Trying to CIO, need help!!!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2003: Trying to CIO, need help!!!
By Boxzgrl on Friday, December 19, 2003 - 10:46 am:

Okay, the last 3 nights we have been letting Kaitlyn CIO. The first night was great, second night okay and last night horrible. Why is she getting worse??? She is completely weened off the bottle and doesnt need it anymore at night (She gets her last one between 9-10 and her am one at 7) but she still gets her paci. The only thing is that now she wakes me up to give her the paci. She has never really tried to look for it on her own and i'm not sure she'd know how so I feel like i'm not acvcomplishing much if i'm still waking up to give her something. It seems like taking the bottle and paci away at the same time might be a bit much but what do you all think?? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

(When she has her paci, she will usually go back to sleep within 10-20 minutes sometimes even right away)

I know its hard, but I just completely threw away all my bottles and never gave him one again. He kept looking at me strange, but he took it anyways. When he is around other kids that have bottles he wants one. I do have a "back-up" one for when the other kids are around so I only give him one then cause there is no use fighting with him. The other parents are weening now too which is great.

As for the paci its a bit harder. I hid them completely, but with his molars coming in he is so cranky and upset so I let him have it about an hour a day. I would work with one..like the bottle first. It a bit easeir. Like at meal time give her the cup, one bottle just before she goes to bed (thats sorta what I did also)...the paci always seems to take longer.
