Lunchbox ideas

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2003: Lunchbox ideas
By Annie2 on Friday, August 29, 2003 - 03:59 pm:

My kids love sandwiches but I wanted to add a few extra surprises in their lunchbox this year. I purchased wide-mouthed thermos' for my kids.

I have sent in the thermos' the usual leftover meals but I added something to go with it. ie:

spaghetti plus garlic bread
beef stew with bisquits
hot sloppy joe mix with an added bun on the side
cheese dip plus chips on the side
Sliced turkey, chicken with gravy with a side of bisquit or bread
cooked vegetables
soups

I have also used their regular thermos, filled it with warm water with a hot hot dog plus added a bun. I also enclosed in their box ketchup/mustard packs from McD's.

They find these simple ideas so refreshing besides a sandwich and carrot sticks.

I'm sure there will be more additions to my small list.

Hope you find these helpful. :)

Holy Cow! That is creative lol. My kids aren't old enough to eat lunch at school yet, but I'm definitely keeping these things in mind. Cute ideas! I bet the other kids stuck with pb&j are wishing that you made their lunches as well.

Annie 2 I wish you were my mom. Heck I got a Pb and J made the night before a sack of chips and maybe a cookie. LOL You go mommy!!! My kids eat at school so I don't have to worry about it.

My kids were always salad eaters and I got insulated containers that were perfect for small salads and fit in their lunch boxes. I used those tiny little tupperware containers that hold a few ounces for salad dressings.

Yum! Will you come over and make MY lunch? Or better yet tell me how you got your kids to eat all those things? My DK's don't go to school yet, but we always eat the same thing every day. It is very boring. My mom could have taken some lessons from you. I always ended up eating school lunch because with 7 kids we went through groceries FAST!
