Hello,

DS is wandering off at school. They take the kids to the bathroom in small groups and he wanders off. They leave the door open and he wanders off.

I have started to do time out when ever he wanders away from me but I was wondering if anyone else had any advice for the "Happy Wanderer's mom"?


The other day I saw they were switching room and he stayed out in the hallway while the other kids entered the room... Quite at wits end over this problem...

My son did this for awhile also. He is much better at age 5, but he certainly still has a mind of his own. I don't think you can stop the behavior as much as you can modify yours. Tell the teachers, you know he really just isn't sticking with the group, they should watch him closer or make him hold their hands. Same with you, if you are out hold his hand. He will eventually get that if he wants any freedom he will have to conform.
