I got a great deal at the Y. $85 for 5 private 1/2 hour lessons. I will post later and tell you how it went.

Something about a Spongebob swim promotion...

He did very well. He didn't know how to do anything and

1.)the instructor taught him how to jump in the pool( She caught him)

2.) Climb out of the pool
3.) Blow water under water (alittle)
4.) kick on side of pool - kicking in pool
5.) She also started him on learning arm movements.

Of course he need lots of practice but I was impressed on how much fun he had and how he managed to do everything. He seemed to be able to do most things and it was only the first lesson.

I asked the instructor if he could join the group lessons after he had 5 private lessons. She said he was distracted and we should stick to the private lessons. I think if he keeps enjoying the lessons we will stick with the private swimming lessons. It looks very safe and I some how think it is good for him. ]

Skills ds would need to use in the private swimming lesson

1.) Following verbal instructions even in a distracting environment.
2.) Getting in touch with his body. Making his body work in new ways.

DS was very talkative after the swimming lesson. I also saw him playing more creatively at the Children's museum afterwards. I might increase the lessons to two lessons a week. I think it was great therapy... I have to think about it...

I was just so proud of ds at the children's museum. They had a special story and art program. Ds sat for the story(he seems to always sit for the story now) He coppied the sign language hand movements the teacher was doing (They book was about a deaf girl). He glued the letter of his name down with out any help at all.

Also he joined in the Group Yoga program. He followed the teachers movements doing group yoga. He did everything just as well if not better than any other kid in the room. That is another thing I could get him involved in Kids Yoga. Looked very safe.
