I'm afraid that the TIME is coming soon......

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2003: I'm afraid that the TIME is coming soon......
By Joan on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 - 08:39 pm:

OK, here's the problem.
I'm just now starting my 38th week of pregnancy. For the last 4-5 days I've had very soft BM. Not quite diarreah, but pretty close. I know a lot of times that is your bodys way of cleaning you out before labor begins.
Tonight I've had several crampy type contrations and tons of pressure. With my fist baby I had these kinds of feelings all day before going into labor that night. With my second I just woke up in the middle of the night with them, I thought I needed to go potty :)
Anyway, these feelings I've been having are worrying me because if I go into labor in the next 2 days nobody will be able to help out with our other 2 kids.
My FIL had a mild heart attack yesterday and everyone is 2 hours away at his side. My dh is here with me tonight though.
The only person that could take the kids would be my mother and she is ALWAYS with me in labor. My dad is too ill to watch them and that leaves nobody else! I guess they could always come too and just sit in the waiting room, but they are 6 and 4 and that would be very boring for them.
I know I'm probebly kidding myself and this is probebly just a false alarm, but hey, you never know with babies :)
I'm so torn between wanting it to be the time and not wanting it too because of everything else going on. When you get to be 38 weeks in July you are always ready for it to be over LOL :)
I guess it's really not my choice is it?
What ever happens happens....

Mara

Mara, sounds like you are REALLY close. If I had to guess, I would say you are going to deliver this week. I had the same symptoms you are having for both of my dk's and I delivered within days.

Good Luck and I hope you can hold out for the next two days. Best wishes for a smooth delivery!

You're right about one thing, you really won't have much choice. Try not to worry. It WILL work out. If the kids have to be at the hospital, then so be it. They may be bored, but it will be OK. It might even be sort of exciting for them to *be there* when mom has the new baby.

Do you have any neighbors or friends you are close enough to and trust to help out with your kids?

Try to relax, it's pretty much out of your hands now.

PS - I'm sorry to hear about your FIL. I hope he will be OK too.

Oh Mara, I was in a similar situation last year and I finally said whatever's going to happen, will happen and everything will work out! It did for me and I'm sure it will for you! (((hugs)))

Let us know when it does happen! :)

How exciting! It's getting close for sure.

You're right, whatever happens, happens and there's nothing you can do to change it. Especially with babies!!! I'm sure everything will work out fine!

Maybe if the family hears you are on your way to the hospital then one of them can come back from seeing your FIL and be with your kids.

Hope your FIL is better soon, and hope you have a new baby soon too! Congrats!
