Our first retail store outside Ft. Knox, Kentucky, was the first military supplier to focus on outfitting the individual soldier. Surplus stores were just about everywhere, but only U.S. Cavalry focused on new equipment and customized services. We featured on-site computerized embroidery in an era when even many banks were not yet computerized.
That first store was quickly followed by mail order catalogs to serve our customers as they were deployed around the globe. Wherever our fighting men and women were stationed, our catalogs soon followed. In fact, many of today’s U.S. Cavalry staff have fond childhood memories of perusing the kiddie t-shirts, ceremonial sabers and scale-model kits featured in our early editions.
As our customers prospered and rose in rank, they began to look to U.S. Cavalry to outfit their organizations. The growth of this segment prompted our recent adoption of Managed Accounts. These accounts streamline purchasing for large groups by designating an Account Manager to serve each client. Managed Accounts allow our group customers to work with the same Account Manager, who understands their unique needs, every time.
Similarly, we set upon a quest to earn a General Services Administration Contract to ease the procurement process for our customers at GSA-authorized federal, military and state agencies. The GSA Contract allows these customers to ensure they pay a fair, predetermined price for the equipment they need.
To further assist our customers in countering these unique threats, U.S. Cavalry’s TEAL Team provides tactical training courses for groups to enhance the effectiveness of our first line defenders. Also recognizing that the average citizen could benefit from such skills we partnered with Gunsite to facilitate individual training.
Finally, the rapid evolution of non-state combat forced us to recognize a gap in existing information pipelines. While there were many platforms to accommodate inter-agency communications, there was no central portal for the exchange of ideas between boots on the ground overseas and homeland defenders. This led us to develop OnPoint, the Online CounterTerrorism portal, to help our military and law enforcement leadership learn from one another.

Since the first soldiers turned to us 30 years ago, our horizons have expanded, yet our focus remains on outfitting the individuals who defend our liberties at home and abroad.
