The Little Things

I got this in an email. I don't know if these are all true, but even if these specific incedences aren't, it's still a good thought. It does have a religious tone that I hope it doesn't offend anyone.

The ' L I T T L E ' Things

As you might know, the head of a company survived
9/11 because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was
his turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her
alarm clock didn't go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.

One of them
missed his bus.

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.

One's
car wouldn't start.

One went back to
answer the telephone

One had a
child that dawdled

and didn't get ready as soon as he should have.

One couldn't
get a taxi.

T he one that struck me was the man

who put on a new pair of shoes that morning,

took the various means to get to work

but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot.

He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid.

That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am

stuck in traffic ,

miss an elevator,

turn back to answer a ringing telephone ..

all the little things that annoy me.

I think to myself,

this is exactly where

God wants me to be

at this very moment..

Next time your morning seems to be

going wrong ,

the children are slow getting dressed,

you can't seem to find the car keys,

you hit every traffic light,

don't get mad or frustrated;

God is at work watching over you.

May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things and may you remember their possible purpose.

I have seen this before, but I still like seeing it.

Thanks. We can add one. The father who missed his train because he thought the cat escaped and had to look for him - Otherwise my husband would have been there ...

Oh Ame, Bless your family.

I heard about one dad missing his train. Several people probably did that day.

I used to get anxious about getting somewhere on time and one day I was especially anxious to get my son to a dr appt. He noticed and started to get anxious himself. Seeing that he was simply following my example, I calmed myself and said, "We'll get there when we get there. Even if we're late."

Thanks, I've really needed to be reminded of this lately.

Ame, that's such an unexpected blessing!

I keep trying to remind my dh of this sort of stuff. When I get cut off by a slow poke in traffic, I grit my teeth and think maybe that slowpoke just saved my life.

We all need to be reminded of this once in a while.

When something inside me urges me to go "the other way" to whereever i am going, i imagine there is a reason i shouldn't go the usual way.
