Seal-A-Meal?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2007: Seal-A-Meal?
By Tunnia on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 - 02:55 pm:

Does anyone have a Rival Seal-A-Meal? I bought one a couple of weeks ago and I love it for many foods, but I am having a difficult time with sealing foods that aren't completely dry. I have read the manual over and over, been to the website and have followed the suggestions that I make two bags, put the high moisture food in one bag, fold it over and place it in the second bag to vacuum and seal. That isn't working either and I am wasting a lot of expensive bags! First of all, it sucks out my marinade or the moisture in the food and it won't seal at all! I just spent an hour trying to marinate tonights meat and finally gave up on the machine in disgust. Anyone btdt and/or have any suggestions?

Never mind.:) I found a number for the company on the internet and they told me that mine is defective and I need to take it back and get another one.

Stacy it sounds like you have my luck (bad), that's something that would happen to me. I want one of these every time I see it on TV and you are right you are supposed to be able to marinate in them. Let me know how you end up liking the good one. How have you been, how are the kids doing in their new school? I've been extremely busy at work and it cuts into my MV time during the day, boohoo, and I'm not on much at home, too much other stuff to do. Take Care.

Hey Mary! I hope you and your family are well. I usually only get on here a couple of times a week these days and mostly read instead of posting. The school is great. Both dks are thriving there and I am in constant amazement at how far ahead this school is from the private school. My ds's teacher is impressed with how smart he is and how quickly he learns things. His little brain works very fast. Unfortunately, we are going to send them back to public school next year. We hate to do it, but there is a lot of work that needs to be done to our house (completely resided and new roof among other things:() so that we can sell it and move and we need the money that we pay for private school to make the improvements. Private school is outrageously expensive here and with two in private school there is very little money left over after tuition and bills are paid. Dd will be ok back in public, but it's ds that we worry about so next year I am going to be very visible at the school and I will keep a close eye on things. I just pray that ds gets a decent teacher next year and not another evil one like he had this year. Also, the drive is just too far. I now take them to a bus stop, but it's still not close. Now instead of it taking me an hour to get them to school and then another 30 minutes to get to work, it takes me 25 minutes to get them to the bus and another 25 to work. Much better, but with sitting time for waiting on the bus I'm still in the car over 2 hours a day.

My job is going well and keeping me busy. My boss has been teaching me more and I was teasing her the other day that pretty soon I'll know all she knows and she will be able to just sit back and watch me do all the work. LOL I wish I had the desire to start my own studio, but I don't. I'm very happy being the assistant and not having the hassle of being the boss. Go check out the website again (do you remember the address?) because there is lots of new stuff on there now and you can see some of the new stuff I've learned to make.:)

BTW, I'm so glad you liked your plate!
