Who has a website that's free?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2007: Who has a website that's free?
By Cat on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 - 11:24 am:

I'm finally going to get my business website up. What free services are out there that are good and don't put banners and ads on your site? I'll pay for one if I can't find a good free one, but I'd rather not have to, ya know? If I do pay for it, I'd like to spend less than $10 a month. What's out there? I don't want to just do a google search and end up with one I don't like and then not be able to get the name I want. Thoughts? tia :)

Here is my free web site:

I like it a lot.

Try wahmshoppes.com

:)

A friend of mine has a site with them, and she pays something like $7.95/month.

Is it ok to put the link here so you can see what kind of site she has for that price?

If not, please feel free to delete it, mods...
it's polkadotboutique.com

I don't think you can have a free site that doesn't have some sort of advertising on it.

I pay 8.95/month for my domain, since I pay the whole year at once, + $20 to keep the domain name.

All great websites! I asked this same question on the family child care provider support board I belong to and got a few more sites. I did end up having to pay for my domain name and am now waiting for it to clear before I can set up my site. Thanx for all the input! :)

Cat, are you going to be selling items? That's another consideration with shopping cart capabilities there is usually a fee (hefty)for securing your site.

Cat, if you just use the IP number, for your site, you should be able to start setting stuff up. Mine is 64.177.7.117 for http://www.lakebreeze.org

I just put that in my FTP program and I was able to upload files.

I won't be selling anything, Kym. It's a site for my child care. Only selling me! :)

Dawn, you totally lost me. The email I got said I should be getting another email within 48 hours. I don't want to wait that long, but I don't know how to get around it. I hope I didn't mess something up! Dh is the geek around here. He wasn't around to help me though. We'll see... :)

There should be some sort of number, for your website. The email didn't mention one, though? Eventually, though, you will be able to type in the domain, and it will show up. Just keep trying.
