Need recommendations for HEPA air filter

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2007: Need recommendations for HEPA air filter
By Jjb on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 - 06:26 pm:

My ds's allergies are really bothering him- a few of you suggested I put a HEPA air filter in his bedroom. I've heard good and bad reviews about them. One friend doesn't believe they work but besides that I've only heard good things. So...I'm looking for advice on if they really work and what brand/features are the best. I'm very clueless in this area. Thanks so much!

Our allergist specifically recommended a HEPA air cleaner, and it has made a huge difference for my kids. It's the ionic breeze type cleaners that have gotten bad reviews. I recently read an article explaining the difference between the two and why HEPA is better, but I can't find it. Argh!

We have a Honeywell similar to this:

I noticed they now have models with permanent HEPA filters. (We have to change ours annually.)

We got the one that Wal-Mart carry's.Can't remember the name, but it didn't work at all.Total waste of money.A friend of mine swears by the Oreck ,the same man that has the vaccum's.
