We're leaving for Florida and our cruise on Thursday morning, and this is what we'll be leaving behind...

By Annie2 on Monday, March 5, 2007 - 10:41 pm:

Have a great time!!! Take many pics for us that are stuck at home! :)

By Marcia on Monday, March 5, 2007 - 10:44 pm:

I forgot to mention, I took the pic from my front doorway, and that's a house across the street.

My sister works about 20 mins from home and it took her 5 hours to get here. YIKES!! Most of the main highways were closed, so everyone took the smaller highway than runs from Toronto and through all small towns to northern Ontario. She works on that route. Not fun stuff!!

By Wandilu on Monday, March 5, 2007 - 11:15 pm:

You are going to think I'm crazy...but I prefer the snow over Florida !!! No kidding, I LOVE it. But I do realize that in cases like what yall are having , it's very dangerous. But I really enjoy cold weather.I think some of it is due to my asthma, and it is so much easier to breath. But, anyway, HAVE A GREAT TIME !!!!!!!

By Marcia on Monday, March 5, 2007 - 11:19 pm:

Yup Wanda, I think you're nuts. LOL I really HATE this crap!! I understand the breathing thing, though. I turn the heat off at night to make it easier to breath. I can't stand the heat blowing in my face.

The buses ran this morning, but were canceled not long
before school was out. There are 35,000 students who
are bussed in our county. Some kids have had to stay
at school over night, and some teachers are staying
with them. Stranded motorists are at the schools, too. What a mess!!!

So many roads are closed, which is also rare.

Here's the strangest thing that happened....the
highways and roads under the CN Tower are closed,
because sheets of ice were falling off of it, and they
were big enough they could have killed people.
WOW, what a day!!!

By Tink on Monday, March 5, 2007 - 11:25 pm:

That is some severe weather, Marcia! I hope you're all staying safe and warm. Enjoy your trip out of that ice-cold version of he!!.

By Bea on Monday, March 5, 2007 - 11:56 pm:

Are you going to get out of there on Thursday???

By Marcia on Monday, March 5, 2007 - 11:58 pm:

Yes, we have to get out on Thursday. We have to be on the ship on Sunday, in Miami. We'll be fine.

By Dana on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 - 08:21 am:

It is gorgeous in FL right now. You will love it. In the 70's today....just PERFECT!

By Marcia on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 - 08:50 am:

Dana, I am SO looking forward to th at!! It's bright and sunny here today, but it's -20 something before the wind chill.

By Karen~admin on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 - 08:53 am:

Enjoy your cruise, Marcia! What did you decide to do in ports?

By Marcia on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 - 10:08 am:

We're going to go to Uvero (sp) Beach at Costa Maya, and Nicole can swim with the dolphins there. I booked Peat in Ocho Rios. We're still debating Captain Marvin's in Grand Cayman. It sounds great, but we might just cheap out and tour the town and do the beach instead, because with 6 of us, the other 2 are costing us a fortune. It sounds like you can snorkel even at the beach, so that's an option. You KNOW I'll have lots of pics when we get back!! :)

By Kernkate on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 - 10:35 am:

Enjoy!!! I would love to get away from our nasty weather!

By Justanaunt on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 - 12:10 pm:

Enjoy your cruise Marcia! I hope to go on a cruise someday. I almost had the opportunity to go on one a little over a year ago, but some things came up.

That snow is pretty, but I'm sure it's a mess. Luckily we don't get much snow in my area. Everything is at a standstill when we get only a couple of inches.

By Tsa on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 - 12:49 pm:

I've noticed that you can book the same tours or excursions once you are physically on the island for a lot less than the cruise advertises. You might want to look into that in the Grand Cayman. Have a safe and great trip.

By Karen~admin on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 - 03:37 pm:

Marcia, walk a block or two down the street to the RIGHT of the pier in Grand Cayman. There's a place you can snorkel right there, off the beach, right off the road the pier is on. They rent snorkels/beach chairs/lockers, etc. there, and I think you can even buy lunch/drinks there. We have snorkeled there twice while in Grand Cayman. Another time in Grand Cayman, we used Captain Marvins, and it was a wonderful experience.

You'll have fun, no matter *what* you decide.

If you DO decide to do Captain Marvins, you can walk to it as well, to the LEFT of the pier and across the street. There were walk-ins the day we were there.

Have fun!!!!!!!!

By Tripletmom on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 - 07:10 pm:

Have an AWESOME time :) You know,I don't live far from you... and I could probably fit into one of your suitcases lol

By Marcia on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 - 09:13 pm:

HA! I know you must be dying to get out of this crap, too!!

Karen, thanks for the info. I'm going to do one or the other, for sure! I bought a waterproof camera, and told the kids they can all take some pics with it. :)

By Tripletmom on Sunday, March 25, 2007 - 08:58 pm:

Marcia,Are you back yet??? :) Did you have fun!!

By Marcia on Sunday, March 25, 2007 - 09:25 pm:

Yes, we got back last night, and I've been doing laundry all day!!!
We had a FANTASTIC time!!! The cruise was just perfect, and all of our shore days were lots of fun!
Stephen snorkeled at the spot you mentioned, Karen, and I took a bunch of pics from the shore. He used the under water camera, and I'll take that in as soon as I take the last couple of pics on it.
Nicole swam with dolphins in Costa Maya, and she loved it!
We toured with Peat Taylor in Jamaica, and it was an excellent tour!
I have so many pics that I can't get them all on 2 cd's even, so I'm going to have to play around and then post some.
Thanks to everyone who gave us such great help while planning this trip. It sure won't be our last cruise!

By Karen~admin on Monday, March 26, 2007 - 09:41 am:

Glad you had fun! Can't wait to see pics!!!!!!

By Karen~admin on Monday, March 26, 2007 - 08:42 pm:

Marcia, my hairdresser just went on a cruise out of N.O. a few weeks ago, and she told me she did the swim with the dolphin excursion in Costa Maya, and absolutely LOVED it. She's mostly a *sit in a beach chair with a tropical umbrella drink* kind of person, and she went with 3 of her friends and sort of got dragged along. She said it was so much fun, she wants to do it again.

That is one thing I've never done, and you can tell Nicole that I'm totally envious! :-)

By Marcia on Monday, March 26, 2007 - 10:47 pm:

Karen, here's the pic they took of Nicole. We weren't able to go and watch, but at least they took a good pic...
