Webkinz?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2007: Webkinz?
By Rayelle on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 - 10:38 pm:

Does anybody have kids that use this site? I just found it through another message board and I was wondering about it.

By Marcia on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 - 10:49 pm:

Yup, my girls are addicted!! You buy the stuffed toys, and they come with a secret code to get onto the site. The site has lots of fun stuff to do.

By Tsa on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 - 01:13 am:

Are they good games? How much are the animals?

By Paulas on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 - 02:04 am:

Around here the animals range for $9-$11. Keep in mind that the codes are only good for a year and then you have to get a new one...their way of tricking you in to a yearly membership fee basically. The games are fun and the kids are able to earn money to buy things for their stuffies.

But, like Marcia said...it is addicting and we have had to set time limits so my daughter wouldn't be glued to the computer. My DS(7) and DD(10) both love them.

My DD (8) is addicted, too! She has saved her own money and has bought 12 thus far. Here the Webkinz are $10 and the LilKinz are $7.50. The child is able to pick the gender and give her pet a name. DD checks on them daily but doesn't spend too much time at the web site. She did when she first discovered them, but does much better now.

My 10 year old has 2 and that is all she ever wants to give her friends for their birthdays because you can invite a friend over to your pet's house if they have a webkinz too. She loves it and so do most of her friends. They are also about 10 here. I think I ordered one online because we couldn't find it in the stores and it was 16 with shipping.

By Tink on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 - 10:48 am:

Oh, this looks like a fun present for my dd! I haven't seen them around here but I'll be on the lookout for them.

By Trina~moderator on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 - 12:09 pm:

Tink, there is a store locator at the web site.

By Marcia on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 - 12:35 pm:

Hallmark stores carry them in Canada, so you might want to try there.

By Tsa on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 - 12:58 pm:

Went online today and Hallmark in the US carries them also. I'm going to go get one tomorrow (Snow Storm or not). My daughter is 10 and I think she will love it. Thank you.

By Rayelle on Wednesday, February 28, 2007 - 02:32 pm:

Yes, I did the store locator and there a few pharmacies that have them here.

My friend told me about this. I had never heard of it. Her kids , a boy who is 4 and a girl who is almost 7, love it!

I saw a sign just today in the window of our local Hallmark store that said that they are on delay. What is it, another craze like Beanie Babies?

By Tsa on Friday, March 2, 2007 - 11:02 pm:

We bought one today (a snow day). The kids are hooked. This is really kinda cool. You have to make money in order to buy things for your wonderfully cute pet. There are time limits so it teaches kids to wait and the value of money. Well, kinda. They play games in order to make money. I love it the best $11 I've spent in a while.

This sounds like good presents to get for my nieces birthdays this year. They will be 7, 8, 10 and 11 this year. Does this sound like it would be good for this age group? Also are the pets just for getting access to the website?

By Marcia on Saturday, March 3, 2007 - 12:27 am:

The pets are the same kind of thing as beanies, except they have funky fur. Yes, they are perfect for all of those ages. My girls are 10, 12 and 14, and they all love them. They have friends who are younger who also love them.

By Tsa on Saturday, March 3, 2007 - 03:44 pm:

Love these things!!! My kids want to enter the tournament with some one if any ones kids are interested please post. We don't know exactly what we're doing yet, but it is soooo much fun.

By Marg on Saturday, March 3, 2007 - 04:32 pm:

Our middle dd received one as a gift for valentine's day. We just tried to login yesterday with this information. We entered as a newbie and tried to login and it states and stays at 10% loading.

Can anyone help?
