At last - I found an outfit for a wedding

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2006: At last - I found an outfit for a wedding
By Ginny~moderator on Saturday, October 7, 2006 - 06:10 pm:

Not mine, but the female associate I work for is getting married on the 27th, in the evening, at the Franklin Institute - so you know it means dressy. I have been shopping desperately for the last three weekends, looking for a dressy pants suit or a beaded top and shiny wide-legged pants. Part of the problem is that I'm 5'2", and now, sadly, wearing a size 18, and am very shortwaisted - plus, I can't wear heels more than 1", because of my back and knees.

So, today, I found it. A polyester chiffon over poly satin - navy blue. Wide legged plain pants, chiffon over satin, a sleeveless, scoop neck top beaded nicely all over the front in mostly blue beads (if it weren't chiffon, I'd call it a tank top), and a loose open jacket with a a very low-key beading pattern along both sides of the front. It's something that can be worn all year round, because it is light-weight but dark in color.

And new, very very dark blue pumps, neat, 1" heel.

So, off to the tailors next Saturday to get the pants and jacket sleeves shortened. I'm also going to talk to the tailor about maybe taking the top in an inch at the top of the straps(?), so that the scoop neck isn't quite as low as it is.

And I found a really nice multiple-strand skinny fake silver necklace to wear with it - and also bought one that alternates silver and gold strands, so we'll see.

All I need now is a small evening bag - probably navy silky type or black, with a small bit of beading, and a shoulder strap.

When I get it all together (including makeup and hair and all), I'll make sure to have some good pictures taken.

The best thing of all is that the outfit was $40 at Ross, and the shoes $20 at Sears. I am so pleased, and so very relieved to be done shopping.

A silver evening bag is also very trendy and can be worn with a lot of other things.

It sounds gorgeous - I'm going to be shopping soon, with my son's wedding coming up in June. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a bargain!
