Mineral Make-Up

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2006: Mineral Make-Up
By Tunnia on Thursday, October 5, 2006 - 08:46 am:

After reading about how some of you like the mineral make-up I ordered some off Ebay to give it a try. I have been using it for a week now and I LOVE IT!!! I have ultra-sensitive skin and rosacea as well and I haven't been able to wear make-up in years because if I did I would have a rash and breakouts for about two weeks after one wearing. Then with the rosacea I look like someone slapped my cheeks and I really wanted to at least tone down the redness (I've tried several Rx for it, but they have all irritated my skin and I gave up a couple of years ago). I didn't really think it would work well and figured it was mostly hype, but I'm really impressed with how well it covers the red and looks natural. Also I have had no rashes, itching, or breakouts in the past week. I'm thinking of trying the emu oil with winter coming up, but I'm a little leary of putting an oil on my face. Has anyone tried it? Gee, I guess I sound like I should be doing an infomercial, don't I?:)

Can I ask what brand you tried? I too have very sensitive skin as does my DD.

I bought Smoky Mountain Minerals. I bought mine on ebay or you can go to their website.

Sensitive skin is a major pain isn't it?

Stacy - Re: your rosacea...I used to work for a dermatologist and he used to prescribe an anti-fungal medicine to take internally, because he said that rosacea is fungal.

I don't know how the emu oil would affect your skin. You should ask your dermatologist.

Don't you have to kill the emu to get the oil? If so, I wouldn't use it for that reason alone.

I just ordered some from QVC tonight. I got the make-up and a brush in a kit. I usually don't wear foundation unless I'm getting really dressed up. However, I like the idea that this is: light, fragrance free, and has an SPF 15 sunscreen.

I'll let you all know what I think.

I'm glad you like the smoky mountain minerals. They really are good - and less expensive than the others. I've never used any oil on my face. What I swear by is Dramatically Different Moisturizer from Clinique. It really is awesome and worth the money. It's light and works.
