How are the love bugs in your area??? I HATE them..They are bad here...I take our DSD to wk in Daytona and go on I-95 by the time I get home the windshield is really bad... I wash them off right away..then later on its back to pick her up,its not too bad then ...but around 11am it is the worst!!
I heard on the TV that you could put baby oil on the bumper to help keep them off..Any other idaes??? Will the baby oil hurt the bumper?? Or the paint... We have a new truck that I drive and dont want to mess up the paint... Someone else said to spray it with Pam..Ever hear that one...I use baking soda to clean them off..Dont want to scratch the paint.. Thanks

Oh, they're a southern thing. No wonder I've never heard of them.

Love Bugs

The DISboards, which I constantly frequent, are all abuzz with talk of how bad they are this year. They said the bugs, themselves, are acidic, so you want to get them off ASAP before they eat your car paint. I can't imagine that Pam or other oil would harm the paint....I'd go for it.

I hate love bugs. I have also heard the pam thing but never tried it.

A funny though...we went to visit my mamaw this summer, they were in the midst of a butterfly migration. My youngest said...eww this is worse than love bugs, because these guys land on you! And I will say cleaning those off the car was equally as bad.

They are horrible here too!!!

They have not been this bad since hurricane Ivan blew them up here 2 years ago.

They just do it all the time.

LOL.

My DS is the only love bug I know of :):)

Those sound terrible though!

I remember them when we lived in Florida, only the military community had a "different" name for them because their only function is to procreate, then die, if you know what I mean. :) As I recall, they would stick to your grill and headlights on your car something awful.

Wierd looking little buggers, aren't they? :)

UGH I HATE those things! They are so bad here right now they will hitch a ride in on your hair or clothes, or if you are driving on certain sections of I-10, especially near dusk, your car will be covered in them. The dog has even come in with them stuck in her fur.

Labor Day weekend we took the youth group skiing at False River. There was a sudden swarm of lovebugs. I've never seen anything like it---a low hanging black cloud of them. We couldn't talk or eat without them getting in our mouth, our eyes, etc. It was miserable!! We also had a huge white ice chest and apparently they are attracted to white because they covered it. It lasted about an hour and then they were gone. Yet another reason I am not a fan of the south---poisonous snakes, lovebugs, fire ants, and huge flying cockroaches. I am so ready to move at least a little more north! T-10 months and counting.

Yuck...those things are gross!

I have been putting BABY OIL the cheap one on our trucks bumper for the past week... the bugs come off alot easier...It DOESN'T keep them off it just makes it easier to clean them ofF ..I'm happy it hasn't been taking that long to wash them off then I put baby oil back on.
