Sex ????

Just wanted to know if any of you moms had your tubes tied? And if so did you wait the 3 weeks that they recommend to have sex?

By Trina~moderator on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 - 10:12 pm:

My tubes aren't tied, but I did have a laparoscopy this past December to remove an ovarian cyst. (Tubal ligations are often performed laparoscopically. Sp?) The nurse told DH and I to wait 4-6 weeks before resuming sexual relations. We looked at each other like this: smileyshockedeyes LOL! During my 2 week post op exam, I specifically asked my OB/GYN, "Do we really have to wait 4-6 weeks?!" She chuckled and said that since everything looked fine 2 weeks was sufficient. She said, "Give your hubby the thumbs up when you get home. Tell him 'MERRY CHRISTMAS!' from Dr. Fagan!" ROFL!

I had my tubes tied by laparoscopy in 1982. I was 34. I don't remember any prohibitions about sex. I do remember being told not to do any heavy lifting for two weeks. :)

I had my tubes tied in April/04 and they never gave me any restrictions for lifting or anything else. I was very sore the first week or so and wanted nothing to do with sex but after the soreness wore off I was fine.

I had my tubes done when I was 27. I was told 2 days of no lifting or anything and to give myself a week if I felt I needed more. I was fine after about 4 days. :)

I had my tubes tied in March 04 and the only restrictions they gave me were no heavy lifting for a couple of weeks. Sex was fine as soon as I felt ready. Just needed to stay on another type of birth control for a month.

It's probably OK to have sex, but don't have unprotected sex. One reason for waiting is to be sure there are no eggs lurking. But, take it gently to be sure you don't do any harm. And, exercise your imagination. There are lots of ways to satisfy those urges that are less demanding physically.
