Doing a "beauty Parlor" today in living room.....

need online place for fun child safe beauty things we can make at home. I've cut the cucumber for eyes and some lemons for elbows. I know there is somethign we can do w/ oatmeal and honey (haven't looked it up yet). But the sites I saw so far are for adult skin care, and I'd rather stay w/ the mild stuff for kids.

It's 1:10pm EST on Sunday and I am searching web now. If you can help, we would love it.

I'll try to post the photos of our "girls day in"

What about a salt or sugar scrub on hands and feet? I think you mix with lotion, scrub, rinse & moisturize.

Then oatmeal/honey mask is very safe for the children. You mix one beaten egg white (per "customer") with a teaspoon of honey. Add enough oatmeal to make a paste. Apply to dry skin on face. Let harden (10 to 15 minutes) and wash off. Follow with a cold water rinse to close the pores.
Unless someone is allergic to eggs, it should be fine.
If you want to shampoo hair, you can also do a vinegar rinse. It makes the hair really shiny. After shampooing and rinsing, mix 1 tablespoon of cider vinegar (use lemon juice for blondes), into 1 pint of warm water. Pour through the clean hair, work through, and rinse with cool water. Just be careful to protect the eyes, as vinegar and lemon juice are both acidic, and will sting.

well, it was a disaster. DD hated the oatmeal on her face and she fussed and kept moving so it was dripping down her face (I had her lying down). Then I put some lemon juice on her elbows and knees. Unknown to both of us there was a tiny cut on both knees, so she got up oatmeal and all and started screaming and really just overreacting to the whole thing. I didn't mind the letting me know it hurt part, but OH MY GOODNESS! She was acting like a 3 yr old having a tantrum. AFter all that, the friend wasn't too kean on trying it either. She was doing the foot massage while DD was doing the facial.

After pulling out curlers and curling iron, makeup, massager towels, sparkly sequin dresses from the 80's, they decided they didn't want to finish and wanted to go to the park. SIGH.

At least I got both of their feet toenails cut. They wouldn't even let me paint their toes.

aww, i'm sorry it didn't work out Dana! It sounds like such a sweet, fun idea. Maybe you could wait another year or so and try again.

The whole "spa" thing sounds like fun. I'm sorry it was a disaster. Ouch. Lemon juice in a little cut couldn't have felt nice! I know when I use the alcohol-based hand sanitizer, that if I have a small cut, it really hurts!

I'm sorry it didn't work out. It's disappointing when you plan it and get excited about it for them to turn around and not like it.It's happened here a few times.I find spurr of the moments work best for us.I think I get alot more into it than Katie, its like being a kid again. My DH really enjoys playing with the 3 boys,he's reliving his childhood again through them.At least the toenails got cut!!! LOL
