Last day of Bridge...

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2006: Last day of Bridge...
By Conni on Friday, May 26, 2006 - 01:07 pm:

sniff sniff... Today was my babies last day of bridge class. They had the nicest program. I was boo hoo'ing as they played a sad song and did a slide show of the whole yr at one point in the program. I have never been so emotional at ANY of my childrens functions. It was really good. lol

We went back to the classroom afterwards for one last snack, more pictures, gifts and a very teary goodbye. The teacher and this group of kids ended up soo close. I am usually thrilled when the school yr ends and summer is here. This time I was really sad. On the way home Blake kept saying 'I am going to miss my class so much' , 'I will really miss my teacher', etc... :(

My older boys have one more day of school. For some reason they have to go back on Tuesday after Memorial Day? Seems silly to me. :)

What is bridge class?

I am always emotional at every transition in my kids' lives, but I cry at the drop of a hat anyway.

Oh--and you want to know silly? My boys' last day of school is ON Memorial Day. Mom is not happy! :( We're not making the youngest go because they won't do anything anyway, but my middle schooler has 2 final exams on Monday. GRRRR! After that though...free at last!

Conni, my youngest has his k graduation next Wed. I know I am going to cry! It is going to be such a big transition next year to have both my boys in school full time!

Wow Pam, school on Memorial Day! that is definitely a bummer.

I just love summer. It is my favorite season. I think I am more excited then my boys!

Pam, ditto Debbie, bummer. But you also said that he has 2 final exams on Monday also? How ? Why? I mean I don't understand, if it is the last day of school, what is the purpose? I mean when will they get the grade over the summer in the mail or in August/Spetember when school opens for the new school year? Will the kids be in the same class next year? I mean I thought that all grades where to be submitted by teacher's, by a certain time of the year.

Pam, instead of sending Blake to K last yr we 'held him back' and put him in the Bridge class. Which is basically a pre K for kids that are being held back or just missed the deadline for K. They did alot of K work but it wasnt as intense as the actual K classes. He turned 6 in April and will be off too K in the Fall.

I cannot believe your kids have to go on Monday?? That *is* silly!!

Sounds like Blake had a really wonderful teacher and had a great school year. I would have cried, too!

My kids never had off on Memorial Day - the schools don't recognize it as a holiday here.

The final report cards are mailed out the first week to 10 days of summer vacation in this area.

Did you get lots of pictures? It sounds like she is a very special teacher. It is dumb to go back on Tues. I don't know what schools think sometimes.

When our kids approach thresholds in their lives, we will always get emotional in one way or another.

My ds went to a similar class. He wasn't quite ready for kindergarten, so he had to go to a kindergarten readiness class, or Early Fives.

Wow. I have never gone to school on Memorial Day! It's usually been a 4-day weekend, with Friday off as well.
