Do you have a second frig or freezer?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive July 2006: Do you have a second frig or freezer?

I *finally* convinced DH to get a second frig. It's in the basement, and I LOVE it!! It's so nice to be able to stock up and freeze things. Yesterday I made a double batch of O Henry bars, which need to be refrigerated to harden the chocolate. No problem! I put them in the downstairs frig. Before, I would have had to somehow finagle room in the kitchen frig. Ahhhh... Heaven! DH doesn't understand my excitementsmileyrollingeyes, but he's happy because I'm happy! LOL!

I love having a second freezer/ fridge! I could use a third with the catering! :) Maybe one day! It makes buying bulk meats etc so much easier! Enjoy!

My mother had a second frig for years and years, and we all loved it.

I have a deep freeze and I love it we can go to the meat market and stock up on sale meats and have stuff whenever we need it. We bought it 2 months ago and I love it.

We have a second fridge and a chest freezer. We actually have a third fridge sitting in the garage right now until I can get someone to haul it away! lol I'd like to put it in the basement, but dh wants to get rid of it. We really don't need it, though. I love having the extra room and being able to stock up on things--especially when there are great sales. :)

Yes, we have a second fridge and I love it. It was awful though, over the weekend when the cellar flooded, I had to get all of the food out and put it into my regular fridge.

I had a second freezer (upright freezer) for years until Katrina ruined it. LOL I loved being able to sale-shop all my meat and stock up. However, stocking up cost me around $1500 in food, so we are not replacing the freezer. I wouldn't mind having a second refrigerator/freezer, but we have nowhere to put it now.

We have a second freezer, and a second fridge would be great! My inlaws have second fridge in their garage and it's so convenient!!!

Not yet but I really want one and need one! We have plans to remodel our kitchen this year. As soon as we get started I am buying a new fridge for the kitchen and the old one is going in the garage!!! I can't wait!

We have a regular-sized refrigerator and a little square one in the basement (dorm-sized). My mom got it for us, for Gary to keep film in. Well, now we don't use film anymore! LOL! Anyway, it's our beer/soda fridge! Sometimes we comtemplate getting a bigger small fridge (does that make sense?) and then Sarah could take the square one to college with her.

It is nice to keep the soda out of the main fridge.

Nope. In texas if you want an extra freezer you have to have house space for it. If you put it in the garage it cost SOO much more to run. My electric bills are high enough! I have a big side by side and have plenty of room. There are times it is very very full, but I always manage to get it all in. It is all in the packing. However I have to put the groceries away....no one else can make it work!

We have a second fridge and an upright freezer standing next to each other in the garage. We keep alot of drinks, extra milk, eggs, butter, etc in the second fridge. And I keep candy hidden in that freezer for little ol' me. Very nice. Wonderful at holidays.

I have heard my dh gripe about how many things we have *running* around here when he gets the electric bill. He is such a *joy*.

Enjoy!! And is your recipe for Oh Henry's on the recipe board?

By Eve on Thursday, May 18, 2006 - 06:18 pm:

Very cool, Trina!:)

We have a freezer in our garage and I love having it. Our new love of Trader Joe's frozen section isn't a burden. LOL

I have some projects planned for DH, which include a small pantry closet or more cabinets and I want it to include a small fridge for drinks or maybe a wine fridge.

Ditto on the electric bill! We just had 20% increases in our state and it was a HUGE difference in our bill! So, maybe I don't need a wine fridge. LOL

We have both a second freezer and a second frig. The second frig is for drinks.

By Mrsheidi on Thursday, May 18, 2006 - 11:24 pm:

Yup, we LOVE it! It's mainly for beer and to chill wine though...tee hee...

I'm taking this thread in a slightly different direction...........so see my thread on electric bills if you want to respond.........

Well, this is a sore subject with me. We would have had one in our new house, but had to give it to the buyers of our house when we negotiated. URG.... I was really looking forward to the extra space. So, I just made dh buy me the biggest refrig he could find for our new house. I really shouldn't complain, he got me a fancy stainless steel one that I really love.

Interesting about the increase in electric bills, since we are still hoping to move to Texas one day.

We put our old kitchen fridge/freezer in the garage when we bought a new one, and I love having two of each, I have 4 kids and I HATE grocery shopping, so I'll spend a ton of money and stock up, so it works really well for me.

Heidi, I only drink red wine, but ours also serves as a beer cooler.
