Open Houses

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2006: Open Houses

For the last month or 2 I have looked at a few open houses. Yesterday dh and my sis went with me and looked at some. OMG, at first I was just looking at them for paint color and technique ideas... I now want a NEW HOUSE. LOL I am not getting one. But the houses are so clean and nice when they are NEW arent they? :( ha I am becoming obsessed with Open Houses. I want to go look at more today.

I think every 2 yrs I should move everything out of my house, clean it, paint it, etc... And then move back in? HA

LOL conni! I have been doing the same thing. I have a friend who's house is on the market, so I have been looking at her competition. I found at least one that I wanted. Really I love my house, but it needs paint and new floors. It isn't in my budget to do right not. Oh and I want a pool, but that will probably never be in the budget!

I would see way too many things in a new house, that I don't have in my current house! LOL! I don't know that window shopping would be all that fun!

Oh, my mom and I can waste a weekend away with Open Houses. We both love seeing the new things that come out and the decorating ideas are so fun! But it certainly makes me envious of all the neat innovations that I don't have!!

Conni, I always say that married couples should have a shower for their ten year anniversary so that they can get all the new things around the house that have come out since their wedding. I need new pots and pans, a few new kitchen appliances and everyday china. Nothing wrong with what I have now, I just want to replace it all when I go to my friends' bridal showers.:)

Tink, my SIL and I would totally agree with you. At 10 years or so, all my shower towels were starting to wear out and I had to start buying new ones! We called it a "longevity" shower! LOL!

Well, I got over my shock and awe yesterday. But boy did we look at some beautiful homes. There is one that I absolutely LOVED, however I will admit that for the price of the home they had a teeny tiny backyard. We have almost 2 acres now, so that small yard would be a shock to my 3 dogs. And we could never afford that house it was $530,000. ROFL I started thinking it wont be too terribly long and we will have this house PAID for if we just sit tight!!!! :) That must be a wonderful feeling to have your home paid for?? I wouldnt know...

I did start painting finally, yesterday. My sis came and helped me repair my kitchen walls and clean them up for painting. (i removed the wallpaper border 6mos ago) It is going to look really good when it is all finished. After I get some rooms updated I would *love* to add on a large family room, make the kitchen a little bigger and add a sunroom or screened in porch off the kitchen. But with 3 kids (2 approaching high school days, driving days - we will have to come with a car for them, might just let them share one?, and college yrs, plus i am still paying to take some classes here and there...) I will just be *dreaming* about that for a very long time...

We had talked about selling this house and building one on our Missouri farm, but we noticed the interest rates went up quite a bit. So, now dh says no way. lol We are at 5% interest now and he thinks it would not be a smart move to sell this house anytime soon...

I do enjoy looking at new houses tho!!! I just shouldnt let myself fall inlove with one. lol
