OMGosh! Re: Bra size

I went to VS recently and was measured for bra size for the very first time. OMGosh! The size the clerk measured is so NOT the size I've been wearing! smileyshocked WOW! I was shocked! Today I'm wearing a new bra in the proper size, and what a difference! No constant re-adjusting and COMFORT at last. Woo hoo! DH thinks it's pretty funny. "See Hon, I've been telling you all along that you're not as small chested as you *think*!" smileywink

LOL Trina, I haven't done it recently, but i first saw this in a TV programme from the BBC called "What not to wear", i don't know if anyone watched it. They (these two women) always said that women were always wearing the wrong bra size, and that it did make a lot of difference, for comfort but also for appearance.

Glad to hear that your hubby noticed the difference! :)

That's cool, Trina!

Trina, I was doing that too, until I let VS measure me about 3 years ago. Amazing how comfortable a bra that actually fits is! BTW, have you tried the Ipex???? SOOOOOO comfortable. But I like the look I have with the Very Sexy bras, so I wear those 99% of the time.

Maria - The American version of that show is also constantly harping about how most women where the wrong bra size and that we NEED to get measured for a proper fit. One of these days I will.

BTW - I'm a What Not to Wear junkie. Used to be just the US version but we just got BBC Canada on our cable and I get the Brit version too! Whoo hoo!

Dawn, i got a bit fed with it when they started doing men and celebrities, i used ot like it when it was only women...i know is sexism but why should i watch how men dress, i am not interested!:). But i used to love it when it first started, mind you they haven't done a new series for a while so i'll keep an eye for the next one... They are hilarious, Trini and Susanna I love the way they just touch the other women with such gusto! they just don't care! I also love how they flatter all women's shapes (but not their sense of style). I love it when they finish with them and how these women change.

And yes, since i saw them i went to get my correct bra size and it DOES make a difference!

I was sized at VS last week. I went thru their entire box of styles and nothing fit properly. I kept telling her there was too much air between the bra and my skin (you know, right near your breast bone when you look down and see into the cup). She measured me one inch smaller than I wear and one cup larger than I wear. She finally brought me an A cup and it fit perfectly. However, the area under my arm and near the breast still looks awful. I was looking at the VS models on TV and the bra cup fits further back on them (as I am accustomed to as well). So I believe I really should have been trying on the size one inch larger as well. The VS help just told me "there's nothing that can be done w/ the pouch of skin...it just happens with age" She never mentioned a larger inch size to help. I mean EVERY bra I tried did this. I just figured I must be getting old and just lumpy. I put on another bra that a friend gave me and it covers that lumpy area just fine. It was not so tight that it pushed that fleshy skin up. Oh, well, my point is that I believe I was measured improperly. I plan on returning and buying another bra in a larger size w/ the smaller cup.

I'm happy you found a bra you can really enjoy Trina. Amazing how something so simple can make you feel good all over.

BTW, I took 8 yr DD with me. She was too funny. It was difficult to explain why I liked the ones w/ all the extra padding, LOL. Finally I found one w/ water pouches stuffed inside. She was so tickled at that idea. She told the VS lady "it has water stuffed in it!" and was politely told "but don't ever tell anyone, it's a secret." Can I even begin to tell you how many people now know I have water in my bra???? Moral of this: don't take your 8 yr old to VS :)

This is funny...dh got me a gift card from VS and I've been meaning to get measured but I don't want the girls with me (bad enough to stand there and let a strange woman handle your..ahem..)LOL Anyway, I've always suspected I've got the wrong bra size, but now you've inspired me! Maybe this weekend... :)

ROFL, Dana! I purposely did not bring the kids along. :) DS (9.5) would be extremely embarrassed and DD (almost 8) would have a hay day! She walked into my bedroom when I was getting dressed the other day and wearing my new Very Sexy Push Up bra and said, "Mom, I can see your nipples!" I looked down and said, "No, no you can't," because they were well covered! Then she pointed and said, "Yes Mom, right HERE!" Me, chuckling: "Ohhhhhh, that's called 'cleavage'." Something she rarely sees on me! LMBO!

Last time I was in VS (to redeem my free panty card I got in the mail for black mesh panties, no less) I ran into a 10th grade girl from my Sunday school class who was there with her mother. It was very traumatic for me--LOL

By Crystal915 on Friday, May 5, 2006 - 02:58 pm:

LOL BTDT!!! Every time my weight changes even a few pounds it all seems to come from my chest. Anyway, I get measured in VS every time I go to get a new bra.

By Dana on Friday, May 5, 2006 - 04:08 pm:

Tina, that is too funny. And, poor Pam. I bet you were beet red :)

By Dana on Friday, May 5, 2006 - 04:11 pm:

Don't know why I left the R out, Trina. I've done that before on your name. Oh, well, I know who you are.

By Karen~moderator on Friday, May 5, 2006 - 04:31 pm:

Pam, it shouldn't be traumatic! LOL VS is not just about sexy lingerie - their bras just fit really well. But, I can sort of understand where you were coming from.

When Jen was in Jr. High, we could not find bras to fit her ANYwhere. She kept begging to go to VS and I just had this *thing* about taking her there. Then I realized it was just about getting a bra that fit. And to this day, their bras are the only ones that fit her.
