Fast Help Needed With Shipping Labels/Ebay

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2006: Fast Help Needed With Shipping Labels/Ebay
By Kate on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 - 12:29 pm:

I just sold two items and need to ship. In Ebay it has a spot to print a shipping label which takes me to Paypal and then to the US Post Office...how does all this work?? Should I do it?? Am I charged over the internet, or does it just speed the post office trip up?? I can't pay and ship from my house, right? I still need to make a trip to the post office? I was hoping it merely made a nice label for me and I could print it out to affix to my box. I have to stand in line no matter what, as there isn't a package drop off at my post office. I just don't really know what this feature is or how it gets paid for....

I copied this information directly from eBay. You actually are paying for the shipping costs through your paypal account so you can ship anywhere, even if you just give it to your postal carrier. It is ready to go once you print this label and place it on your package:

"Print Shipping Labels on eBay and PayPal
Reduce the amount of time you spend shipping your items when you purchase and print domestic and international shipping labels at home through eBay or PayPal. Printing labels is free, you only pay for the cost of shipping!

Look for the "Print Shipping Label" link on the Item Page or in the drop down menu in My eBay (to the right of the item you've sold), or look for the "Ship" button on the PayPal account overview page."

I found that printing the postage through ebay was more expensive, but if you're in a hurry you might not even care!

We have a self-serve kiosk, at our post office. When DH uses that, he doesn't have to wait in line! He loves it. Recently, though, he had to ship a camera to Japan. Then he had to wait in line.

I always use the Paypal shipping labels, it's usually faster and easier than taking everything to the PO. You can call your PO for package pickup, or just drop them off if you've already printed postage. It comes out of your Paypal account, has shipping confirmation for free, and you can cancel the label if anything is wrong with it. I've actually found it's cheaper for me, since I always ship Priority when I sell.

I always print it through paypal as well. It's much quicker at the post office. No waiting in line, you can just walk to the counter and leave it there. We typically ship the flat rate.
