I need strength!!!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive April 2006: I need strength!!!
By Cat on Monday, April 17, 2006 - 01:17 pm:

To get through the next 2 1/2 weeks. We close on our current house this Friday and we're still on schedule to close on the new house next Wednesday or Thursday (we thought Thursday, but they thought Wednesday so they're going to let us know). We thought we were okay to rent back until the 12th but apparently the buyers understanding of the contract is that if our other house is ready we'll move out like immediatly! I asked our realtor "What? Do they expect us to close on the 27th and be out on the 28th?" and he said, "Yes." UGH!!! So now dh is all ticked off and I'm stressed like you wouldn't believe. Throw in there I really wanted to start my diet today (before all this stress happened!) and I'm fried! So now we're going to try and be out by the 5th. Well, that's what we're telling them anyway. We're really going to try and be out by the 1st but if we are it'll just be a surprise to them. We'd ask friends to help but most of them are very busy themselves and we hate to impose on people. We just need to get through these next few weeks. Then I'm going to take a two day nap.

{{{HUGS}}} and STRENGTH! It's very stressful when selling and buying houses. Every time we've gone through the process the closing date was when the new owners took possession. Apparently it doesn't work that way in every state. Hang in there, Cat! I hope everything goes smoothly and you'll be settling into your new home soon!

Our contract says they can take possession on May 12th unless our new house is done sooner and we'll rent until then. Well, the new house will be done sooner, but we can't move out overnight. We did this so we'd have time to move. Dh and I think our realtor could have done a better job wording this in the contract. The buyer's realtor is taking it literally like we'll be out the day after we close on the new house. Dh talked to our realtor and told him to tell the buyer's realtor they can have the keys the 5th and if they don't like it they can find another house to buy. Again, UGH!

Well, that's a bunch of bologna!! I cannot believe they are acting like that. I suppose if they want you out bad enough they could come help you move?? :) INCLUDING their realtor.

(((HUGS))) It will al be over with before you know it! I wish I lived closer, I'd be happy to help you move. When we moved we had my sis / bil neice, nephew, 2 friends, another bil, lol my mom and dad !! Oh my goodness we had so much help and I was so very thankful. (i was 8 mos preg at that time)

Good luck and keep us posted!!

Thinking of you Cat!

By Cat on Monday, April 17, 2006 - 03:29 pm:

Conni, I actually thought about telling them that! lol But they have three small children that would probably be in the way and it'd be more trouble than it's worth!

Thanx, Kim. :)

{{{Cat}}} hugs. Isn't moving fun...NOT.

We put our house on the market last week. Well, we sold it in 2 days. Yea...Great. BUT, we are fighting on when we will close. They want us out in 3 weeks, which is 2 weeks before school is out. Yea right. Now, we are going back and forth. Hang in there and stick to your guns. I really don't understand what a difference a week would mean to them.

By Cat on Monday, April 17, 2006 - 05:20 pm:

Well I talked to my realtor again and he told the other realtor the buyers can have the keys the 8th and maybe sooner if we get out of here quicker. He blamed our builder and honestly, we have no guarentee that the house will be done by the 26th (just their building schedule). He then admitted he could have worded it better and that this has been a learning experience for him. He really is a great guy. He just made a minor fopah. He even offered to help us move! lol So hopefully everything will go according to schedule and we will have at least a week to move. Honestly we will probably be out by the 1st, but we don't want to be on such a rigid time constraint. We'll see...

Debbie, we were posting at the same time! lol The buyers are trying to save money and apparently had to be out of where ever they were so they're living in a camper right now. NOT something I or my family would ever attempt! I guess they're getting on each other's nerves (they have three small children) and are getting anxious to get into their new house (which isn't even theirs until Friday!). Not my problem, but I do understand. I hope you get your contract worked out. This really is stressfull, isn't it? Hugs back at 'cha. :)

By Debbie on Monday, April 17, 2006 - 05:38 pm:

LOL, Cat. I can't even image living in a camper with my two boys for any length of time. The people that are buying our house have already arranged for temp. housing. It is a company move and the company is paying, so I am hoping we can work something our on our date. Yes, this moving business is STRESSFUL. I guess back East, people leave their all of their appliances including washer/dryer and refrigerator. Well, were we are going, they don't. So, we had a big hassle because they wanted ours, but then we wouldn't have any. Yikes. I don't know why they want my 10 yr. old washer and dryer anyway.

By Cat on Monday, April 17, 2006 - 05:46 pm:

Debbie, we're leaving everything except the washer and dryer (Leave my luxury appliances??? I don't think so! lol). Our new house comes with all appliances, but we declined the washer and dryer because we're bringing our and they credited us some $ for them. I can't wait for this to be all over.

Yikes! I can't imagine being under that kind of stress. We ended up renting our house to the previous owners for 3 months. They were building and the house sold really fast! They hadn't even broken ground, for the new house. So, we had to wait three months to move in! They were out before the end of July, so that was nice. I suppose nice for them, too, since they were storing a lot of stuff for the new house, in their garage. It would have been a hassle for them to put all that stuff in storage. I bet they did end up putting some stuff in storage, though, because they ended up renting an apartment for a few months, before their house was finished. They moved in, around December.
