Don't try to talk at all and don't whisper. Whispering is worse for your voice than talking at a normal volume. DH is going to have to do most of the vocal parenting for you today. :) DH and I have both had this in the past 2 weeks. I never completely lost my voice, but had a very hoarse voice that was about 1-2 octaves lower than normal for 5 days. I ended up having to get a shot of steroids in the butt. DH lost his voice completely and ended up on antibiotics. If it's not improved by Monday you'll need to go to the doctor, but likely you just have inflamed vocal cords from sinus drainage.

I had this all last week. I finally went to the doctor. I ended up on antibiotics, and new allergy medicine. Nothing I tried helped at all, so no suggestions. I hope you feel better soon. If it doesn't get better in a few days, I would go to your doctor.

Yeap, just voice rest. DH and I both just had sinus infections and while I never actually LOST my voice, it was certainly not my normal voice and I couldn't sing, either. I had to skip choir last Sunday. As my sinus infection has improved, my voice has, too. It just takes time!
