I just received word from our pastor that a 5th grade boy in our town has a brain tumor. His parents are packing at this moment to get him to Indy to Children's Hospital to do surgery as quickly as possible. His uncle is a pediatric radiologist at the hospital so I think he's working some magic to make things happen so quickly.

We live in a small town so everyone knows everyone. Prayers will be flying like crazy today. We've had our fair share of grieve for a town of 2500.

We lost a 6 year old in 1999 to cancer, a 7 year in December 2004, and in the past 12 months we've lost 7 teenagers in car accidents. Our town's kids have dealt with so much death in their lives it's hard for them to comprehend. I pray this one has a happy ending.

I just heard this from a friend. The little boy who died in 1999 has a brother who is in 5th grade and is good friends with the boy with the brain tumor. Today is also the 7th anniversary of the death of the boy who died in 1999 and tomorrow would have been his birthday. I guess the second boy is having a tough go of things.

Makes all the little stuff we stress about everyday seem so trivial.
