What Are Some Good Christmas Movie For Kids?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: What Are Some Good Christmas Movie For Kids?
By Kate on Friday, November 28, 2008 - 05:18 pm:

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Home Alone are out, due to how rude and crude they are. Are there any NICE movies out there with a Christmas theme??

By Jackie on Friday, November 28, 2008 - 05:25 pm:

I have always loved the original "Santa Clause" movie with Tim Allen. I just love that one..:)

By Luvn29 on Friday, November 28, 2008 - 05:38 pm:

We love the Santa Clause movies! Numbers 2 and 3 are good, too. We enjoyed Christmas with the Kranks. It had a really good message. I imagine you have already watched Polar Express.

An older one I enjoyed was The Preacher's Wife with Whitney Houston.

A kind of goofy one we like is Elf.

By Jackie on Friday, November 28, 2008 - 05:40 pm:

Oh yes Adena, you brought up some other good ones.
We enjoyed "Christmas with the Kranks"
I loved "ELF"....OMG too funny when he sees Santa and starts jumping up and down saying "Its Santa, Its Santa"...I dont know why, it makes me laugh :)

"Prancer" with Sam Elliot.

It's a Charlie Brown Christmas

The Classic Holiday collection (with Frosty, Rudolph and the rest of the gang)

The Flight Before Christmas

Shrek the Halls

Polar Express

How the Grinch stole Christmas

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas

I'm just throwing some out there that we've watched lately. :)

By Bellajoe on Friday, November 28, 2008 - 09:55 pm:

My favorite now is Polar Express

They like "The Year Without a Santa Clause" with the Heat Miser

Rudolph

When they were little they liked "The Year Elmo Saved Christmas" or something like that

"A Christmas Story" is good after a certain age I think. Mine don't like it much now, but I loved it when I was probably 12-13 yrs old.

"The Santa Clause" is cute with Tim Allen - I don't remember much about it though.

We will have to rent Elf sometime. I think we have only seen the ending of that one.

Bella, if you have cable, you won't need to rent Elf. It's on all the time! It's on....USA, I think.... tonight and tomorrow. It was on last night, as well!

By Bellajoe on Saturday, November 29, 2008 - 09:20 am:

oh cool, i'll check out my local listings
Thanks :)

I think abc family has the 25 days of Christmas with a Christmas movie on every night too.

Elf is our favorite Christmas movie, but we usually watch it several times a year. It's a Wonderful Life is great too and some of the old musicals like Holiday Inn. I also really like the old classic puppet shows like The Year without a Santa Claus. I thought Polar Express got a little long and boring, though I love the book.

We do love Christmas Vacation too, but I guess I can see how you think it's a little crude. Being the only female in the house though, it's par for the course here. However, I don't really know what's so rude and crude about Home Alone other than the slapstick, physical comedy???

We love Elf and the Santa Clause movies. I wait for Frosty and Rudolf every year. What about the movie with the little boy and his bb gun? I don't get into that one too much but lots of people love it. My son looked JUST like him when he was younger. Everyone used say that.

By Bobbie~moderatr on Saturday, November 29, 2008 - 04:58 pm:

The BB Gun movie is, A Christmas Story, and I agree it is geared towards older children.

Our favorite is Christmas With The Kranks. We also like Elf, White Christmas and The Santa Claus with Tim Allen.

We watch a lot of really cute Christmas movies on ABC Family during November/December too.
