Augmentin doses

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Augmentin doses
By Emily7 on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 - 01:42 pm:

My ds is on Augmentin, it was prescribed by his ENT who has only seen him once. I am nervous because it seems like the dose is an awful lot for his age and size.
He is barely 50pounds soaking wet and is 6years old, he is on a chewable 400mg tablet twice a day. Does that sound like a lot to you guys?
If it would have been his regular doctor I wouldn't be concerned...

If you are worried, I would put a call in to the dr office or the pharmacy about it.

I would call the pharmacy and just ask or double check with the dr's office. Doesn't hurt to ask. You are his advocate when it comes to his health.

I know Augmention always upset my Ds stomach. He had to have a good solid meal in him to take it or he'd throw it up.

After I posted this I called his doctor, just waiting for a call back.
I didn't notice the dose when I picked up the meds because I was more concerned about the fact that it was chewable. Plus he was getting a new kind of cough medicine and I was asking about that.
I have already started him on acidophious(sp) for his tummy, because it seems to give him loose stool when he is on it. Plus I am making him drink danactive as well, so hopefully that helps this time.
