Woo Hoo!

Power came on today, spoke with a friend and reportedly the water/sewage systems are working. We're packed up, stopped and got a few things for the ice chest so we can eat for a couple days.

So we are OUTTA here! Leaving first thing in the morning and if all goes well, I'll be online from HOME tomorrow night (assuming the cable works - which I ASSUME it does, because my phone is working and it's all through the same provider).

How far away did you have to go to be safe from the storm? I am surprised that it is going to take you all day to get home. Guess I never thought about how far you have to go before!!

We made it. The trip back wasn't so bad.....no real traffic until we hit the Twin Span bridge in Slidell....and after that, it was OK.

We have water, toilets, showers, power, phone - and cable and internet! Woo Hoo!

I am exhausted though. We just finished cleaning up the debris in the yard.......NOT FUN......I'll catch up on posts tomorrow. Thanks for all the good travel vibes!!!! They must have worked!

Doesn't it feel good to be HOME?! I'm so tempted to just stay put for Ike but we will leave if necessary. It's just SOOO expensive. We spent over $500 to evacuate this time. Half on gas. We only stayed in a hotel one night. We stayed at my brothers three nights. Also, I cleaned EVERYTHING out of my frige and freezer so I have to replace all of that....
