We are getting a female, blue colorpoint. She is adorable, and very lovable, and outgoing. We can't wait to get her!! I will post pictures after we pick her up, it should be about 4 weeks.

How exciting! Can't wait to see pics. Our Mandy is a blue point, and very sweet and loving. Your kitten will look something like this when she grows up.

She is beautiful! It was such a hard choice between 2. The other was a blue/cream tortie mitted, just like her mother, who is beautiful. But, ds fell in love with the colorpoint, so that is the one we got.

How exciting! Do they shed alot? I can wait to hear what you name her.

Oh, I would love a tortie point, but no more cats for us. :(

Annie, they do shed, but their fur is fairly low maintenance compared to other long fur cats (Persians, Himmys,...)

Can't wait for pictures! We had a longer-haired cat, when I was a kid. He definitely shed. We also had a cocker spaniel who shed, too! You could tell the difference, though. The cat was a tabby and all of his fur was striped!

Trina, Mandy is beautiful!

Annie, she will shed, but they usually don't shed as much as other long hair cats because they don't have an undercoat. She will also not mat like other long hair cats do, they are much easier to groom.

I think we are leaning towards Isabella for a name. My youngest ds loves the nickname Izzy. The breeder is going to send me some pictures in the next few days. I will post them when she does.

I can't wait to see the pics. I love the name Izzy, how cute!
When I saw the pic of Trina's beautiful cat I just thought about my navy blue carpet LOL

Debbie, they can get mats, but not as easily as other long hair cats. Just wanted to point that out.
I love the name you have picked out! Mandy's registered name is "Amanda Blue" but "Mandy" stuck. LOL!

Not to leave our old gent out... Here's Andy. He'll be 16 in September. Everyone's pal! He and Mandy are siblings from different litters. (Same parents.)

Andy

Can't say enough good things about Ragdolls. :)

Trina, I had a long hair cat, and she matted really bad. It didn't matter how often I brushed her. The breeder said if we groomed Izzy regularly she shouldn't mat much. How often do you brush/comb Mandy and Andy?

Also, are there any products that you recommend? I had my cat when I went to college until right before my oldest ds was born. She 12 years old, and went into kidney failure. I finally had to put her to sleep. They now have so many new products. Between the different litter boxes, combs, etc...it is overwhelming. The breeder recommends some things, but just thought I'd ask if there is any can't live without things you use.

I brush/comb our cats anywhere from 2-6 times a week. Get your kitten used to it early as a routine. Both our cats loved getting brushed, however, now that Andy is older he doesn't care for it as much. I have to be very gentle, and there are mats on his belly that he won't let me near. He has been diagnosed with the early stages of renal failure and is on a prescription diet. We also take him to the vet weekly for fluids. He's still himself for the most part, but I know there will come a day when his health will decline enough that it will be time to put him down. :( For now, we're giving him lots of TLC and cherishing whatever time we have left together.

As far as products, nothing fancy here. LOL! Standard cat claw clippers, etc. Although I must say that we prefer EverClean scoopable cat litter. I actually use an old, regular brush on them and a flea comb to work out tangles and mats. They don't have fleas, but a flea comb works great.
