Well, we leave this morning. I'm really excited. We are really limited on weight, and must keep our two checked bags under 44 pounds each for the flight between San Francisco and Shanghai. I've been distributing enough clothes etc. for our two week journey, into two large bags, and three carry ons. Karl must bring his CPAF machine as one of his carry on bags. The tour will only allow one portaged bag per person, and no wheeled carry ons, because of limited space on the busses and small planes.

I'm all packed. The house is clean. The inside plants are watered. Our son will come to water them, and fill my bird feeders while we're gone. The outdoor container plants and potted plants are, hopefully, in the path of the automatic sprinkler. The grass has been mowed. We stopped the newspaper and our neighbor will take care of our mail. Karl's palm translator is programmed for Cantonese and Mandarin. I'll be keeping a travel journal, and taking lots of pictures.

Bea I had no idea you were going to China. Where are you going? My son was born in Fuzhou in southern China...very hot there now. I can't wait to see your photos when you return. I want to take my kids to China and Vietnam (where my oldest dd was born) in a few years.
