Wedding ring found

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2008: Wedding ring found
By Dawnk777 on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 - 01:05 am:

It vanished last week. On Wednesday, which was my birthday, I noticed that it wasn't on my finger. It also wasn't where I'd left it on the headboard, to put on hand lotion and it wasn't under the bed, underneath the headboard.

We tore the room apart and have refrained from putting garbage out on the curb, until we found it. To make matters worse, Gary and I were both sick with bronchitis last week and didn't have much energy for a full-scale search. Tonight, I was poking around my room a little bit and saw something round. It turned out to be the ring! I 'm surprised it hadn't bit me in the toe, as close as it was to being found, on any day in the past week. I think it fell on the floor and got scattered a little bit, with our normal activities and/or a rambunctious dog.

DH is very happy. He was vacillating between being supportive and reminding me how long it took him to pay for it. I'm glad I found it, because of the emotional value of signifying 20 years of marriage. It is insured, but we were hoping to not have to make a claim on it. If we'd try to replace it, I would probably have had to settle for a smaller diamond and I like the one I have, which isn't huge, but is more than just a sparkle, too.

Anyway, it's back on my finger and garbage can now be emptied, with abandon. We hadn't reached the point of checking ALL the garbage, but while it was still missing, that was in the back of our heads. Of course, Tuesday was garbage day, but next week will come around soon enough.

So glad you found it. Dh lost his once, he sold a set of stereo speakers and apparently it fell off his hand and into the box when he shipped them. I was so happy when the guy who bought them called us to tell us he found it. We had torn the house apart looking for it.

That was nice of the guy to call! I'm so happy that I found it. In fact, I was so wound up, I had trouble falling asleep last night.

I'm glad you found it too!

My dh lost his once, several years ago. It was gone for at least a month! I don't think it bothered him as much as it bothered me that it was gone. I was close to telling him to go buy a new one. It was just a gold band, no diamonds or anything fancy on it.

Well one day, at least a month later, I emptied the diaper bag and was about to fill it back up with diaper's etc, when BINGO! There the ring was in the bottom of the diaper bag! I don't know if it fell off his finger when he reached in there, or fell off a shelf. But boy were we happy!

He lost it again while playing volleyball in the GRASS at his boss's house. We stopped the game and EVERYONE was looking for it. Somehow, someone found it. WHEW.
THat man has to get that ring resized soon!

YEAH!! I'm glad you found it. *Phew!* What a relief!

The diamond in my engagement ring fell out while doing car seat inspections a few years ago. I didn't notice it until after the fact, and by then I had already been inside several vehicles installing car seats and the people were long gone. I went through my inspection sheets and called all the people, but no one found anything. I suspect it's buried deeply in someone's seat bite never to be found. I was so upset and heartbroken to have lost THE diamond DH proposed to me with. :( We got it replaced, and it looks exactly the same, but still. DH was very sweet and understanding. He proposed to me again, with the new diamond, to make me feel better. I'm still bummed I lost my original diamond, but life goes on...

Oh darn, Trina! My diamond fell out a few years ago. I only had 4 prongs and one was wonky after many years of wearing it. It's when we still had dial-up and I was looking on the floor, while waiting for a page to load. I happened to see something sparkly on the floor and it was the diamond. We took my ring in to get fixed and they made it a 6-prong setting, so now it's more secure.

I was amazed at how small the diamond really was. It looks so big in my ring, but the sides slant down to a point, so overall, it's pretty small. I was very lucky to have found it.

Oh yuck, but a little soap and water would take care of the "yuck" factor! I'm glad you found hubby's ring.
