Atimulus Refunds/Rebates

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive March 2008: Atimulus Refunds/Rebates
By Dandjmom on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 - 08:55 am:

The following is information that I read on IRS website my self. And the last sentence beginning with taxpayers is what I have wondered all aong , if this payment was going to be like the rebate we received in 2003? As far as when we filed our 2005 refund we had to file this amount all over again (pay taxes) a second time on money that we have already paid taxes on. And yeas we are where going to have to file this amount on our 2008 return and pay taxes on it again.

Notices

Most taxpayers will receive two notices from the IRS. The first general notice from the IRS will explain the stimulus payment program. The second notice will confirm the recipients’ eligibility, the payment amount and the approximate time table for the payment. Taxpayers will need to save this notice to assist them when they prepare their 2008 tax return next year.

Sorry I don't now how I didn't see this was typed wrong , should be Stimulus. But the link that Dawn posted I read and it said that he money is not taxable by the federal government. so I dont' feel so bad in getting one now, well two, they where with holding for child support payments so I will be getting an extra payment to help me get my kids ready for school.

It sounded to me, like we don't have to claim it on future tax forms, but we will hang on to whatever information we get, in case we need it for something.
