Does anyone know if there are any new Consumer reports on Digital cameras? Mine bit the dust and since I plan on buying a better quality one, I want to know what to look for. I think I want an SLR.

There is a February 2008 report on digital cameras generally, and a July 2007 report specifically on SLRs. I have an on-line subscription but, sorry to say, at home it loads very slowly because I have a modem at home, so I'm not going to read the articles. Your local library should have a Consumer Reports collection

Canon or Nikon get my vote. The Canon 40D would be a great one, though not *cheap*. Nikon several different models you could choose from.

I'd check somewhere other than Consumer Reports though. DH has a site bookmarked, when he is online, I'll get it from him and post it here.

I don't know about the consumer reports on digital's, but we just bought a Canon Rebel XT 8.0 MP and I am so in love with it.
It is larger than a point and click, but the pictures are soooo nice. It fits in my purse just fine. But my DH says my purse is big. I say it's average. I can't wait till we go on vacation again so we can get some great pics.
The only downside I can think of is that it was so expensive, that I will be afraid to take it to places like Disneyland for fear of something happening to it.
It is working great for pics around the house, and I can't wait to get to the beach with it.

It has a lot of bells & whistles, compared to my old one. I have a lot to learn.
