OMG!! Little boy hit by car

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2008: OMG!! Little boy hit by car
By Crystal915 on Thursday, January 24, 2008 - 04:58 pm:

When I picked up the kids from school today, a little boy was hit by a car outside the school. The intersection is a crossing for the school children, so I don't understand how anyone could be so careless and hit a child. They should be creeping through, way too slow to hit someone!! The little boy was shaken up, but he was awake when the ambulance arrived, I don't know what injuries he had, but he should be fine. I'm just in shock, it could have been one of my children, under different circumstances. :(

That is terrible!! I am glad he seemed to be ok though.

Oh no! I hope he's OK.

Oh goodness, I hope he is okay. People fly through here all the time, it jsut makes me so angry.

How horrible. I hope everyone involved is okay. Was there no crossing guard? We have them at the two intersections at our school. Sorry you are shaken, Crystal. I would be too.

Poor little guy!! We went throught this when my son was in second grade, he was hit by one of those little ford broncos while on his bike in the cross walk, the man was definately going too fast for in front of the school and fortunately my son was banged up and shaken but not seriously hurt, it was his first time riding his bike, he and his sister who was in fifth grade at the time, he never rode this bike to school again after that, and every time we went somewhere where we had to walk in a parking lot he was scared to death, he did eventually work through that! I am so glad this little boy wasn't seriously hurt! I know his parents must've been frantic, I know I was when it happened to my son.

how terrible! The poor kid must be very shaken up along with his parents! I bet the driver of the car was shaken up too.

I'm glad to hear he was ok!

Gesh, what a thing for that poor kid to go through and what a terrible thing for everyone to have to watch. I hope he is okay..

OMGosh! Glad that he's OK! The schools in my area have volunteer *crossing guards* and those big orange cones for the intersections. The cops around here are VERY diligent in making sure people observe the laws in school zones, and the volunteers help a LOT.

crystal I know how you feel. about 2 years ago there was a little girl who was hit and killed outside of my kids school and I witnessed the whole thing and it is tough to have seen. I am thankful that my kids were already in the school. But there is not a day that goes by that I don't think about it when I have to go through the cross walk everyday. Its tough and I do hope the little boy is okay.

{{{{{Crystal}}}}} I'm much more conscious about parking lots, streets, cars, etc since my friend was hit and killed last month. There have been a lot of pedestrian vs car accidents in the Springs in the past few months. People are getting careless and are more distracted while driving nowadays. Cell phones, radios, texting, etc. It only takes a second of distraction for something to happen. Sad. :( Prayers for this little boy's family and everyone that witnessed it and MANY thanx he wasn't hurt more seriously or killed.
