My poor dog.

Well my kids, and dh got my dog groomed, well what a mess. I came back from the cpr course I took and looked at my dog I just felt like crying. I have never had him groomed I have always done it myself. dh did not go with the girls when they took him in, well, My dog baily is little, and first the guy did not do his head, basically shaved his body, left tuff's of hair strans between his toes on his chest, etc.. he looks like a loin, He can not even see through the hair around his eyes. The girls said that the tub they washed him in had ants in it. The guy smelled like pot, and b.o , and he got my dd to blow dry baily so he could go out for a smoke.I am not impressed. I have put a call into her so I am hoping to talk to the lady who owns the shop and give her a piece of my mind. From what I have heard from people who has seen my dog, they said the lady is really good, but her brother is terrible, and of course he is the one who did his hair. I am going to demand that she comes to my house with the clippers and fixes him up. We paid this guy 25 dollars, I could have done a better job. Oh, and he has fleas the lady said any fleas will be gone, and you know he did not smell like a dog who just had a shampoo. So needless to say I am a little ticked off.I will let you know what happened when I talk to her tommorrow. I am just going to buy a good set of clippers and do it myself from now on, or find a better place.

Go Mrse - you get him. Sounds really awful and I would be just as angry.

My mom had learned a long time ago, when you take you dog to a new groomer or your groomer does what they think would look nice and not to your liking, stay with the groomer and explain it to them while they are working on the dog.

I believe you better ask your family if they explained what they wanted done and how they wanted it done. They may have said nothing at all explaining what they wanted done.

My mom also had a pair of clippers and in the end did it herself. She saved time and money. She had two cocker spaniels and trimmed them once a month. Too much work for me;) and it gives me a break, lol!

I have a wonderful groomer:) I have a full-size sheltie, a cocker spaniel and a regular size sheltie. She is wonderful, patient and loving, I could not do what she does due to the size of my oldest sheltie.

Just a suggestion, when you call be pleasant and explain the circumstances. She may redo it for free if you take your dog into her:) And if she is really good, you will know to ask for her next time and she will know how you would like your dog trimmed.

I would be upset about this too. I can't believe the guy had your daughter blow dry your dog's hair so he could take a smoke break. It's his job. Let us know what the owner says to you.

I'd report this guy. If he did this to your dog, you know others are just as bad. And ants in the sink is unthinkable. I would think there are some code inforcements being broken.

I agree with Marg, be pleasant. I would let her know what went on. If she does not offer to redo it for free & maybe a % off your next visit, then I would let her know that you will be reporting her to the BBB.

There may not have been any other choice but to shave your dog. How long had it been since his last grooming? Do you guys brush him everyday? Anyway, even if he did need to be stripped he still should have had a nicely scissored head. Trust me, not all groomers are like this. We never get complaints at our shop and I've NEVER seen ants in the tubs. I agree, be pleasant with the owner and she may finish your dog at no charge, I know we would. Good luck!

I talked to the lady who owned the shop today, and from the sounds of it she knew her brother does a ------- job of grooming. I told her that I hate to tell her this only because he is her brother , but I said if you keep getting him to do the grooming you are going to lose business. She did not sound suprised at anything I had said to her at all. In the end she said what can I do to resolve this? I said well I would really like to see my dogs head done. She did have a comment that she would like me to come back and fix him up so I could see how difficult grooming is, I told her I know how hard that it is why I wanted a professional to do it, especially for his head.
I did mention the strans of hair missed on his chest and between his toes on his bum, but she said something about vessels and if he was moving around her brother might not have wanted to do it as it was dangerous. I just wish I would have made the appointment when I could go, but I was in that cpr course. I thought they would have a harness to hold him, like I seen on the video that came with my hair clippers, but she said no you just get someone to hold his head. dd said he was hardly moving at all, during the hair cut. I did make the appointment, but now I don't know if I want to bother, I know I should just so she can see, but I will have to run to another town 20 min away and hurry back to get to work.
I usually cut baily's hair and it hardly gets long at all and I cut it, with scizzors and he was not matted at all, I was not too upset about his body length that was done, it was his head not being done that really bothers me, as that is the part that I was really looking forward too.
No the girls did not tell the guy what kind of a cut, but i thought going to a professional that they would know what kind of a cut a dog should have by just looking at what kind of a dog you brought in, and then if you wanted something else other than normal you would just tell them that, but I guess I assumed wrong. If their is going to be a next time, I am definaltey going. I wish you could see what he did to baily, what makes it look terrible is not just the missed spots where the hair is noticably longer it is the fact that his head was not done at all, the hair is still hanging in his eyes, he did not even trim the hair away so he could see again :( I would also expect the fixing to be done for free, since it was not done properly to begin with.

This woman does not need to see Bailey to know what the haircut looks like, especially since she was not surprised. Obviously, she doesn't care about her business, to let her brother work there. And the ants in the tub would do it for me, even if she was willing to fix the haircut.

I'd say cut your losses, and either fix it yourself, or find another groomer and pay for it. I would go ahead of time, tho, and check out any grooming shops that you are thinking of using. Ask to see the facilities. Also, make sure that they don't DRUG your dog. Some do.
