Clothing Tags - Love 'em or Hate 'em?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2004: Clothing Tags - Love 'em or Hate 'em?
By Laurazee on Monday, June 14, 2004 - 08:11 pm:

You know those clothing tags that give laundry instructions, etc. on the inside of collars and pants? They drive me *crazy* - I always cut them out. They really bug my neck sometimes. I cut out the tags on ds's clothes, too.

It drives my dh crazy that I do this because then he doesn't know how to wash something. We've had an ongoing debate about it, but one day he was helping straighten my collar that still had a tag in and he saw some welts that the tag was causing. He hasn't bugged me since.

Only reason I wonder about this is because I was just trying to get ds into some new big-boy underwear. ds wanted me to cut the tag out - they bother him, too. I wonder if it's hereditary? Anyone else find this? What do you guys do for tags that really irritate?

We cut out all tags! They bother all of us. It's a normal process when we buy new clothes. :)

Hate em! I actually need to take the scissors to all my newborns tags, they seem stiffer than my older kids clothes, I love the way hanes does it now, it's printed right in the collar.
Tags for us rank right up there with the fuzz inside a sock! But that's another topic:)

We usually don't have problems with tags. Once in awhile the kids, or I, will get an outfit that has an itchy tag so we cut it out. But, for the most part, all of our tags are in.
I always leave the tags in name brand clothes that I plan to sell on e-bay after the kids outgrow them. The value is lower if the tag is missing.

Tags don't really bother me, but they have always bothered Jen, ever since she was little. I had to cut tags out of her clothes when she was a small child, and she cuts them out of everything she buys today.

Ditto Robin - I resell my children's clothes on Ebay, so I keep the tags in and take very good care of the clothing. My dh is the only one that cuts his tags out - he says they make him itch!

I only cut tags out my shirts, usually just the ones that seem to scratch my neck. My neck turns all red and welts up too.

no tag problems here. I do cut them out of my two year old's clothing though, more out of habit than anything else. I've been doing it since he was born.
Ame
Maybe it is hereditary?:)

I don't cut out the tags. They never bother me or my kids. Sensory issues can be hereditary and wouldn't this be a mild version? Of course, I've done this occasionally. I've never even thought about doing this on a regular basis.

Some tags bother me and some don't. If they are hard or rough on the edges, then I have to cut them out.

Tags drive me nuts and also my 11 year old. I cut a tag almost always before I wear something. I can stand them in shorts or pants if I have a shirt on that I can tuck in. I can't stand them in shirts. It makes it hard though to know what the size is for resale or even giving them away.

I hate them! They are the first things to come off, after the price tags! The only time I really wish they were on clothes is when I go to have a yard sale and can't figure out where to put them, size-wise. We also hate those scratchy appleques that are on shirts--especially toddler and baby clothes.

They don't bother me either. I need them so i know how to wash the clothes. Once in a while there is an ithy one that I cut out...but then i don't know how to wash the clothes.
