My Ordeal

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2004: My Ordeal
By Momoffour on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 - 11:36 am:

my family and I went camping along with my brother and his fiance. We got there Friday and put everything up and a few hours later my Aunt and cousin showed up. I didn't mind my aunt but my cousin I can do without. later that night we all got ready for bed and the people camping accross from us was a bunch of college students. It was almost 3 in the morining and I couldn't handle it no more and I yelled out of our tent that there were more than just you camping and that there were people trying to sleep. They tried to blame it on a dog barking and I said no that it was your mouths. That next morning was nice my parents and sisters came out along with my cousin and her kids and another cousin. it was nice we took the kids swimming and they ran around the park. it was fun. Well it was like 10:00 and I put the twins down to sleep they were beyond tired. Joshua cried alittle well The college kids started yelling at us they said that there were just more than us camping I didn't hear it but my soon to be sister inlaw and cousin heard it. I was furious that next morning and went and talked to the girls. She called me a bunch of names and got in my face and I told her that there was alot of difference of a 3 year old crying because they were warn out than a bunch of adults screaming and yelling because they were drunk. I just walked away.Later that night they were drunk again and the girls were talking about stuff that was just nasty. one of the girls took there clothes off and was flashing the others that was with them. It was terrible. they left Sunday which I was so glad. Everyone left sunday. My brother and his girlfriend and Grace and the twins went home with my parents so that left dh,dannah and myself. It was nice we went fishing and lounged around. Monday we got everything packed up and I was carrying the chairs to hubby and stepped in a hole and twisted my ankle. Hubby heard it pop and I felt it. I got so nauseated and my head was spinning I knew I broke it. So dh got everything ready I went to the hospital and I got a severe sprain. atleast they think. It was swollen pretty bad and he said that it might not show a break in the xray. He sent me home with a splint and cruches and I have to go back for more xrays. What a way to end a somewhat nice camping vacation.

I am so sorry you had a to have a bunch of jerks camping near you.
I can feel your pain with the ankle, they are my favorite thing to sprain. I hope you get to feeling better. I can't imagine having to care for 3 year olds with a sprain.

I am sorry you had such a bad time. Don't they have someone in charge of the campground that you could have complained to? Hope your ankle is better soon.

Oh goodness sorry that they were all so rude and inconsiderate. I hope your ankle isn't broken and it heals quickly.

I think it would have been a better idea if you told the Ranger about your obnoxious camp neighbors then to deal with it yourself. Try that next time. There are always stupid loud people camping, odds are the Rangers would have asked them to leave. They probably were not allowed to have alcohol in the campground anyways.

Sorry to hear about your ankle.

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your ankle. Hope recovery goes well. As far as the obnoxious college students, I would have made a complaint to management. Such behavior is totally unacceptable, especially when young children are present.

You poor thing! On top of not resting good because of the inconsiderate campers then this happens. I wish you a speedy recovery.

By Momoffour on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 - 03:20 pm:

Thank you all. I think its just a bad sprain. It don't feel broke.(as if I would know what a break would feel like) I stay off of it and dh came home today from work and fixed me and the kidos lunch and then he went back to work. What a wonderfull man.

Oh, Marie, I'm sorry they ruined your trip. I hope there were some fun moments that saved it from being a total loss.

The only bright side to the ankle accident is no more camping for a while:)...

Hope your ankle gets better soon.

I am sorry to hear that! I sprained my ankle horrible one time, I too fell it a hole, I had to crawl into the house with my son crying for me to carry him. I think it hurt worse than a break would have, the touch of the sheets on it killed me. Hang in there.

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 - 10:09 pm:

Ouch. Been there done that with the ankle sprains.

Sorry the college kids were so obnoxious! Sheesh. At Kohler-Andrae State Park, no alcohol is allowed. I have seen the signs.
