Trina - Carseat question

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2007: Trina - Carseat question
By Debbie on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 - 05:07 pm:

My brother and sil are expecting their first baby. They are looking at the travel system/stroller-carseat combos. They have found an Eddie Bauer one that they like. But, want to know, as far as safety, which ones are better. Are there any that you would recommend?

Thanks in advance for your help. Oh, btw, I got Josh the Cosco booster that you recommended, and he loves it. Thank you.

Glad to hear your son is more comfy in his new booster!

Eddie Bauer, Safety 1st and Cosco car seats are all made by the same company, and are not my favorites. They tend to have twisty harness straps and short harness slots. If I were in the market for a travel system now I would go with Graco, with either a Snugride or SafeSeat infant carrier. My first pick would be the Safe Seat, because it harnesses up to 30 lbs. and 32 ". It's user friendly, and I've heard nothing but good things about it from both parents and CPS Techs.

Whatever they get, tell them to be sure to get a seat with a five point harness and front harness adjuster. To find a CPS Tech in their area:

Thank you, Trina. I passed on the information to them, so they are going to look at the Graco sytems that you recommended. We also found a CPS tech that is close to where they live, so they can make sure the carseat is installed correctly.
