Any other MOMS here addicted to webkinz?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2007: Any other MOMS here addicted to webkinz?
By Dana on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 10:57 pm:

I can't even tell you how many hours I have spent on my daughters sight. I love it, and the dog is just so cute when he sends his little heart bubbles. And I am first to get online to make sure he has been fed and healthy. How bad is that?? And for the last hour I have been playing games to save enough money to buy a backyard (which I did).

I can't believe how much time I have wasted there.

By Yjja123 on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 11:24 pm:

I have never been on :) BUT both of my kids love Webkinz. It is one of the few sites that I allow them to go on.

By Boxzgrl on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 11:26 pm:

LOL... I was JUST teasing my neighbor about being a Webkinz nerd! Everytime I go to her house she is playing it!

By Marcia on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 11:42 pm:

Dana, that is so funny! :) My girls and their friends are all addicted, but I've never tried it. I guess I should!

By Debbie on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 - 11:48 pm:

Ok, I admit, I am a Webkinz addict. I love playing Tile Tower and some of the other games in the arcade!! My ds likes me to help him decorate his rooms. It is also one of the only sites I let my dks get on.

By Dawnk777 on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - 09:11 am:

What I want to know is why a mother I work with at school, bought a Webkins and then through the tag with the code away, becuase she didn't want her daughter to go online and play with it. Isn't that the whole point of buying a webkins? Her daughter is in second grade. I don't get it. She could have just bought a plain stuffed animal, then.

I would probably think it's fun, but my kids are not interested.

By Imamommyx4 on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - 09:53 am:

Maybe we should organize a support group. My favorite game is Cash Cow. But I get on to see what the game of the day is. It's on my bookmarks now so I can get on quickly. But I """ONLY""" play to make money so my dd can buy stuff. Yeah, right. :) I thought maybe I was the only one!!!

By Joy~bundles on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - 01:26 pm:

Does anyone know how long it takes to download the Webkinz program? DS got the frog over the summer, but hasn't been able to play because the program loads and loads and loads after he enters his password, etc. but we never actually get to the site.

My computer shows a lion with a crown on his head, balancing on one hand on a ball, with the word "loading" underneath. I have dial up - perhaps that's the issue?

By Dana on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - 03:55 pm:

I would think dial up is the problem. Other than that, no clue.

Glad to see I am not the only mom "playing to get dollars for kids" ROFLOL. We know the truth!

By Imamommyx4 on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - 04:51 pm:

It didn't take long, maybe a couple of minutes the first time to download. But once in a while there is a problem loading each day and won't load. When that happens, I back out, wait a few minutes and try again. Some times it takes a couple of tries and then is fine.

By Wahoo on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - 06:19 pm:

I checked it right now and found it very new to me in Japan. Maybe none of my friends around me knows it yet. Thank you for sharing this.Is it new in US? It reminded me of Tamagocchi. As kids have just went off to school this morning I will definately tell my kids after they come home from school today. (^o^)/~

By Livvy on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - 06:31 pm:

Hey Joy,
That happens to my DD too. We have dial-up. When it takes more than a minute to load, I get her out and go back to the log in screen and try again. I have always assumed that it was because the Webkins site was very busy at that particular time. Sometimes it takes a couple of times for us too!!

By Bellajoe on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - 06:47 pm:

wow, i'm not the only one! :) I think it's so cute, my ds's bedroom for his frog (spotty) and his leopard (hunter) is so cute!

Dd has a cute room for her's too. Her's are Snowbell, a white terrier and candy a pink pony.

I love playing games on it. I like the one with the mexican mouse catching candy in his hat. I forget what it's called.

By Tunnia on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - 07:21 pm:

And I always thought I was the only one....LOL

My dks fight over which one I will play on because I earn them lots of Kinzcash. I like Home After Dark the best, but I also play several of the other games and I even beat Zingoz Pop once and won a trophy, uh, I mean my ds won a trophy.:)

By Dana on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - 10:18 pm:

Okay, you mean to tell me, for those saying "I thought I was the only one" and such that you've been in the closet about this? We just got our dog a few days ago, and without shame I come to find loyal Mommy webkinz addicts. So how long has it taken you to admit to your vices?

I can't do the candy game, but I don't have a mouse, so most of the games are tough on me. I think I would have more wins if I had a mouse.

DD likes Hungry Hog. I bet she would really be good if we had a mouse.

I'm still going to be hooked on letter lunch. I used to type 80wpm back when I worked in an office. So I enjoy trying to get the speed and accuracy back. I am not so good though. I am only near the 50wpm with 93% accuracy on the very hard mode. I can't wait til I get back to 80wpm! Just think how many points I earn for that. We'll have 3 back yards! LOL

By Wahoo on Thursday, December 13, 2007 - 01:35 am:

I showed My 7yrd son the webkinz site. But now only I discovered that we can not log in the website unless we have a Webkins stuffed animal. There is no place we can get one here in Japan. Toy and Games are unavailable to ship to Japan in Amazon com USA. Is there anyone who knows where we can buy webkinz animal from Japan?

By Unschoolmom on Thursday, December 13, 2007 - 08:32 am:

Addicted to a stuffed animal with a weblink? Right. How immature can you get people?! Honestly, grow up and leave the kids stuff to the kids.

Now excuse me, I have to go play Neopets.

By Tunnia on Thursday, December 13, 2007 - 08:49 am:

LOL Dawn! Neopets was my first addiction, but I went cold turkey and switched to Webkinz last April.

Yes, Dana, I have been in the closet about it. Only my immediate family knows of my shame.:)

By Imamommyx4 on Thursday, December 13, 2007 - 10:53 am:

Yumi--Here is a website but I don't think you can order online. Maybe call them and see.
http://www.justicejustforgirls.com/contact.php

Another nationwide company is Books-a-million. They have them in the store. Again, don't know if you can order on-line or not.

By Debbie on Thursday, December 13, 2007 - 04:16 pm:

Barnes and Noble has some online.

By Kaye on Thursday, December 13, 2007 - 04:47 pm:

dawnk...when we bought our first webkins, my son threw out the tag. I thought i kept it, but he liked how the animal looked (he wanted a gold and white kitty). They are made well and are awfully cute.

I went out and bought a few today...one for each kid, I snuck in an got the code for my middle son's (he doesn't have an account and not sure he will want one), but I didn't want to leave him out. I am a bad momma, but I wanted to play some of these games!

By Dana on Thursday, December 13, 2007 - 05:37 pm:

Oh, Dawn you had me going there! I was thinking "well who is she to put a damper on my pleasures?" ROFLOL.

By Wahoo on Thursday, December 13, 2007 - 06:41 pm:

Thanks Debbie x 2!!
Both of the ladies helped me with the shops are Debbie! I searched the Justice, I found many other things I want to get for my DD but we can not shop online there. Barnes and Nobles is not shipping overseas. Toys and Games might not be allowed to ship internationally. I saw some Webkins sold on Yahoo auction in Japan but they were more than USD40 each. Is it that worth? Now it looks like to my DS. LOL

By Imamommyx4 on Friday, December 14, 2007 - 12:27 pm:

YUMI!!!! EBAY!!!!! There are new Webkinz on EBAY! Some sellers will ship overseas. Just "ask the seller a question" and ask if they will ship to Japan. I'm sure the shipping will be high. Dh says probably as musch or more than the stuffed animal. But I got one for $9.99 and if shipping is $15 that would still be cheaper than the $40.
I just bought one that has been retired. Just make sure that it has "tag unregistered" on it.

Good luck

By Wahoo on Friday, December 14, 2007 - 06:10 pm:

Thanks again Debbie!
I checked EBAY. Yes, There were a lot of Webkinz on it. Thank you.
I discovered that the shipping cost from US to Japan(maybe any other foreign sountries, too) is very expensive.I am very sorry for my Secret Santa.
DS wants a Turtle. Is it one of the most popular one?
I asked the agency in Japan when they are to be sold in Japan and he said they would be on sale in next April. But we will be able to register into "Japanese" website.
If only my kids could meet your kids online!!

By Paulas on Friday, December 14, 2007 - 06:21 pm:

We got the kids the reindeer for Christmas

By Wahoo on Friday, December 14, 2007 - 06:40 pm:

It looks like getting it from Yahoo Japan is the best way for now.
As it is a Saturday morning here,DS was still in his bed and I asked him which Webkinz he needed and he jumped up out of his bed and said "Dalmatian!!".(^o^)/
Then he went back to his bed again. (v.v)zzz
Thank you for your help!

By Luvn29 on Friday, December 14, 2007 - 07:42 pm:

Thanks to all of you ladies, I am 28 dollars poorer! LOL! I decided to buy each of my kids one. I got them from eBay, a beagle for my son and a chihuahua for my dd. I got two with priority mail shipping for 28.00. The seller gives free shipping for more than one. It would have been two dollars cheaper, but I went with the priority mail to be sure I got them. She mailed them out the same day!

I'm going to put them in their stockings from Santa. They'll be so excited! And I can't wait to help them get points on the games, either! Teehee!

By Wahoo on Saturday, December 15, 2007 - 04:52 am:
