Imamommyx4 - question?

Doctor called in Fioricet since I can no longer get Midrin. How does that compare??

By Imamommyx4 on Thursday, November 15, 2007 - 10:05 am:

Fioricet is tylenol, butalbital (a phenobarbital derivative) and caffeine. It is used for migraines, too. I think Midrin is better but if it can't be gotten then it's a good second choice. There are some patients that I've talked to that have said they get better relief from Fioricet than Midrin. So who knows? I don't have migraines and have never taken either so I don't have any personal reference.

Well, the jury is still out on this. I had a fairly busy day at work yesterday, and by 3 PM I had one of those headaches. DH picked up the Fioricet after work, and I took one of them when I got home. DEFINITELY doesn't work as well as the Midrin. Would two work better? The Rx says take one. The Midrin Rx was for one or two. I always took two of the Midrin.

I have a few Midrin left. I am *saving* them for our trip in a couple weeks. At least I know the Midrin will work *if* I need it, so I'd rather have that for the trip than the other med.

My pharmacist told me that the Midrin was discontinued because *anytime one of these drugs starts being abused, they pull it*. ?!? What's to abuse in Midrin? I don't get it. DUH! LOL
