We are going to the Pepsi 400

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive July 2007: We are going to the Pepsi 400
By Yjja123 on Monday, July 2, 2007 - 11:26 pm:

My hubby is a huge Nascar fan. His boss gave us 4 passes (including box tickets/pit tour/buffet dinner/etc) to the Pepsi 400 this weekend.
I guess I better go shopping for earplugs tomorrow :)

Hope you have fun!

Have a blast. We were at MIS fathers day weekend.

Just take this hint do not wear the ear plugs until they drop the green flag. Get the real feel of the cars as they go fast for the first time around the track it is awesome and will give you goose bumps I swear.

GO CARL EDWARDS!!!!

Have a great time! Is it your first race? You will love it. We LOVE seeing the race live, although we've only been to the Brickyard several times since it's close to where we live. Earplugs are definitely in order if you are sitting very close to the track, but if you're not really close to the track itself, you can go without usually. Have a great time!!!

We just gave up our season Brickyard tickets last year because we haven't been in a while and were selling them every year instead of using them. The heat is the only thing that keeps us away. It's usually in the 100's during the Brickyard and really unbearable.

I have very sensitive hearing so I will use the earplugs immediately :)

So, what happened to Dale Jr? Good grief- I tuned in at lap 45 and he was off the track already!

OK---I didn't go :(
I do not mind watching the races on TV but I hate loud noises and crowds. The more I thought about it, the more I thought that someone should go that would truly appreciate it. The tickets were great tickets, it included a pit tour and 2 catered meals (lunch/dinner) etc. It seemed very wrong to go and not be 100% into it. I explained how I felt to hubby and he understood. My hubby and son went with my brother-in-law and nephew. They had a great time. All 4 love Nascar so I am happy they went.
Jessica and I had a great mother/daughter day. We went antique shopping and out to dinner. Ours was a relaxing day :) The guys arrived at Daytona at 11:00 AM and the race lasted until after 11:00 PM! Too long a day for me. LOL.

I don't blame you. I don't think a car race would be my favorite thing, either.

By Cocoabutter on Sunday, July 8, 2007 - 05:11 pm:

I totally get what you are saying. I think that would be a really long day for me, too! I hate crowds, but I mainly just hate shopping in a crowded store.

People who go to NASCAR races and take their camping trailers have it made! Just think, you get tired of the crowds, just go inside your trailer where it is probably air-conditioned and you'd get a really good break from it all.

There is a family at church, that is WAY into racing. The boys are 7 and 5, I think. They both have a favorite driver (I.-Tony Stewart and S.-Matt Kenseth). Their mom said they looked up what time the race would be on today, and were surprised it was yesterday!

I don't have to watch the race to make conversation with the boys. I only have to look up who won! LOL!
