President Bush takes responsibility

Moms View Message Board: The Kitchen Table (Debating Board): President Bush takes responsibility
By Emily7 on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 - 05:11 pm:

Here is an article I read off of Yahoo where President Bush takes responsibility in the slow response from the Federal government.
President Bush

"Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government, and to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility," Bush said. "I want to know what went right and what went wrong.

"Are we capable of dealing with a severe attack or another severe storm? That's a very important question and it's in our national interest that we find out exactly what went on so we can better respond," he said.

I am glad to a certain extent that he has stepped up & took some responsibility...I don't feel it should all fall on his shoulders.

Wow. The first thing that came to my mind was the difference between George W. Bush and President Clinton after Waco when Clinton pointed the finger at Janet Reno and claimed he was totally ignorant of what happened.

And Bush didn't accept all the responsibility with respect to the other levels of government. He only accepted responsibility to the extent that the federal government didn't do its job. And he did it mainly for the benefit of the American people who see the pictures and hear the stories day after day of dead patients in nursing homes and dead bodies floating in the water. Since we are all driven by these pictures, he needed to help alleviate some disconcertedness in the general public over this.

But I think I know what's going to happen next. Since he took responsibility for the Katrina aftermath, it won't end there. The press and Democrats will demand that he take responsibility for Iraq.

Bush did the right thing. He does have responsibility in this and until he cleared the air by admitting that he was going to be stuck in finger pointing. Just respect what he did Lisa, he doesn't need to have excuses made for him. Believe what he's saying.
