Moms View Message Board: The Kitchen Table (Debating Board): Religion questions

I was again watching the news and with all that is happening with the huricane and the news guy mentioned that it was biblical my questions are those of you who believe in it. (which I do) Do you all think that was are in the end times. I read my bible often and the stuff that is going on all seems to fit but I was just curious of what you all think.

NO sits below sea level, is surrounded by water, and has dodged the bullet several times before. I don't think it was biblical so much as inevitable. At some point that area wasn't going to be so lucky. It was just a matter of time.

Good question. Should spark an interesting conversation!

I think this is all nature. Nature waxes and wanes and has its own cycles. Man has encroached on land where they expect no problems. Nature will take its own in its own time. I think man needs to be more respectful of nature.

All I can think of is that in the bible it says that no man shall know the time of my coming. That you should be "awake" for the master may come back at any time and he shouldnt catch you unaware. So somehow I doubt this is "it". Likewise we can all worry about the big armegedon but we should really be thinking about our own personal end. Because even if we miss the fire and brimstone and the 4 horseman of the appocolypse we still will have to stand for our sins and be judged. I dont need to be threatened with the Big One to make me consider my life as a whole and to try to live my life accordingly. I hope that God looks on me with mercy, that is all I can ask.

I think the Bible says that no one will no the exact time, but the season will be noticed. Do I think that we are in the end of times? Well possibly. Do I think this is it, well no, because I believe in a rapture prior to the end times and right now I have not seen evidence to "people missing". Is this the season...hmmm...could be. I am sure that Pam knows the quotes best, but there is lots of prophecy about how long the period of time from the signing of the israel treaty and the end times. How literal are these times, who knows. What I do know is none of us are guaranteed another day. Yes the end times could be next monday, but heck, your day could be tomorrow. There is an interesting website called www.prophecytoday.com that talks about significant happenings according to prophecy.

I have a hard time believing in the "end times" - after all, the apostles themselves believed they were living in the end times - and it's been quite a while.

I agree with Melanie. There was an interview on CNN with a lady telling how the people have wrecked the natural protection of the marsh in N.O. They've built houses so far down, that it was just a matter of time until something like this happened.
It is BELOW sea level. This had to be expected, and it was.
