ADVICE ON EXERCISE

Moms View Message Board: Let's Get Fit! (Weight Loss Support Group): ADVICE ON EXERCISE

I HAVEN'T WORKED OUT IN A LONG TIME. NOW WHEN I WORK OUT MY HEART BEATS SO FAST AND I GET A LITTLE OFFBALANCE/DIZZY. IS THIS BECAUSE I AM UNCONDITIONED OR ????

I really don't know. Those things can happen if you are out of shape, but it could also be something else. What type of exercise are you doing and are you eating something before you exercise or doing it on an empty stomach??

By Natesmom on Thursday, June 3, 2004 - 01:11 pm:

Debbie,
It happens all the time even if I am just taking a walk. Sometimes I exercise on a full stomach or empty, it all depends...........

If it is happening when you are just taking a walk, then I would talk to your doctor about it. I could see if you were out of shape and doing a high impact aerobic exercise. However, if it is happening when you are doing just moderate exercise like walking then it may be something more then just being out of shape.

What kind of workout are you doing? Maybe you are trying to do to much to fast. When I started back to exercising I just started slowly and worked up from there. I've learned I have to eat some protien before I workout and drink lots of water before, during and after.

It is a good idea to check with your doctor. I go to the YMCA and there is a nurse there to answer any questions. Do you go to a gym? Maybe there is someone available to talk to there.

Thanks you guys for the advice. Nancy, I don't go to the gym anymore. But I am going to see a cardiologist in 2 weeks. Hope everything is okay.
