Baby Crawling and Outside

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Baby Crawling and Outside
By Heaventree on Thursday, July 13, 2006 - 03:13 pm:

Cameron is 10 months old and on the move. I would like to spend more time outside with both boys as Matthew really needs some running around time. I just get queezy though about letting Cameron crawl around on the lawn, I don't know what to do with him. Sometimes I put him in the saucer but it's boring for him and I feel bad.

Should I just say forget it and let him go? I don't know why it bugs me. He is not really crawling on hands and knees yet, he just doing the army crawl, so he's dragging himself on his belly. We have a dog, but I clean up the yard everyday. I tried buying some large foam mats but they are a pain to put down and pick up everyday as they have a puzzle edge and take too much time to set up and he won't stay on a blanket for more than a minute.

Suggestions?

At that age they tend to put everything in their mouths so I would be hesitant to just let him go unless you're watching very, very closely. Do you have a Pac'n'Play or portable play yard type of thing that you could easily bring outside? When my kids were little we had a plastic play yard that had toddler toys. Something like this would also work.

Trina I really like that little fence, but I sure don't need to spend any more money on baby stuff! If you could only see my house. LOL. I'm the baby product tester for all my friends.

I didn't even think of the pacnplay - good idea, I'll have to dig it out.

Thanks.
