Good Morning Everyone,

How is everyone? Fine I hope.

Someone sent me an e-mail about this, and I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything about this. In regards to President Bush's No Child Left Behind Bill. If the children cannot pass a required test to graduate from school , that in lieu of a High School Diploma, our children can receive a "Certificate of Completion or Attendance".

I didn't want to post the e-mail here, my godson's mother sent it to me but I wasnt' sure of the rules for posting such things.

I do believe that they can have that child transferred to another school so that they pass it. They should even provide transportation. I've never heard of a "Certificate of Completion". There are also state standards in most states regarding a graduation exam. It's required for the kids to pass before they graduate. They usually have that or end of course exams that they must pass with a certain score.

I don't have any facts, but I believe I heard about this when I was still teaching.

Indiana has a similar deal anyway...you must pass the Gateway exam or it's a no-go.

We've had it here and it comes as such a surprise to parents. I don't know if it's still that way since we aren't in the public school anymore.

I guess I placed a typo, I'll correct it, actually i'm in Washington, DC. And yes my godson attends school here in DC as well. Thank you, I told his mother that I hadn't heard of anything like this , but that I knew that you had certain test and finals that and as well as community hours that you must have to graduate. but that I would check with the moms on line. I told her what you said and she is more relieved. I'm not even sure where she got the e-mail from, maybe I need to ask her that.

In Fl if you DO NOT PASS the FCAT they will give you a certificate of completion..You can keep trying to pass it...You can use this certificate to get into the military if you want..I called because a friend of our DSD did not pass the FCAT but she got the certificate...They will take you...She wants to go into the army..We told her to go NAVY or Af
