Thought I might introduce myself...

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Children with Special Needs: Thought I might introduce myself...
By Kerri123 on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 - 10:45 pm:

Hi, all. I'm Kerri mother of three and living in the Houston, Texas suburbs. Our oldest, Emma, has Sensory Integration Disorder; Auditory Process Disorder and a few speech delays. We're currently seeing an OT and therapy is going well.

My middle child, Greyson, is also showing signs of Sensory Integration and our baby, Tanner, is too. But one kid at a time! We're working very hard to get Emma up to speed, know what I mean?

Hope to get to know you all! I've been looking for a forum for Sensory Issues, and had a really hard time finding one I like.

Anyway, nice to meet you all.

Kerri

Hi Kerri! Welcome to Momsview. I love it here. My ds is five and was diagnosed with autism almost three years ago. We've had a few sensory issues that go along with it. There are a few other moms that have children with Sensory Integration Disorder. How old are your children? I hope we see you around often.

Kerri I too am from houston, southern suburbs. All of my kids have some sensory issues, no one has been officially dxed though. Some promising home, my middle kid who is now 9 had lot s of big issues as a toddler, he is my least sensory kid now. So I think that intervention and awareness can really help them grow out of this. I think it is important that you try to really up their sensory intake. Go to clothes store and feel things, the lingerie department has so many textures. Also I guess I have realized they got this from me, and I am mostly normal..lol. Anyway welcome!
