Hungarian Crescents

Halve this recipe for most bread machines.

Hungarian Crescents

2 pkg. yeast
2 1/4 c. warm milk
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
7 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour
1/2 c. butter, melted

Filling

3 pound walnuts chopped fine with a food processor
3 c. sugar
1 tsp salt

Mix Well
Set aside

Add yeast to warm milk
Add sugar and salt
Stir until dissolved
mix in eggs
Add 1/2 flour
Add butter mix with hands
Add the remaining flour
Knead until elastic about 15 minutes
Place in a greased bowl
Cover with a damp cloth
Let rise in a warm place, away from drafts, 2 hours
Punch down and divide into quarters
With a rolling pin, roll one portion of the dough into a square about 15" x 15"
Pat 1/4 of the filling on to dough and roll jelly roll style
Seal edges with water
Repeat 3 times
Bake loaves on 2 large cookie sheets, seam sides up
at 325 F for 45 minutes or until golden brown and sounding hollow when rapped
