MY HUSBAND JUST BOUGHT ME A BREAD MAKER FOR CHRITMAS- AND ON THE RECEIPE BOOK IT SAYS TO BREAD FLOUR.
BUT I AM WONDERING IF I CAN USE JUST PLAIN FLOUR.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME ON THIS.
QUESTION?
IS BREAD FLOUR COSTLY? DO THE GROCERY STORES SELL IT?

You CAN use regular flour, but the bread will be heavy and not rise as nicely. It is edible, but definitely not as good.

I got my machine a couple years ago. I LOVE IT! It is one of those kitchen gadgets that most use when they first get it, then it starts collecting dust under the cabinet.

I always have bread flour and make sure to buy more when I am near the end. I also keep a jar (not packets) of yeast in the fridge. My favorite is Fleischmann's Bread Machine Yeast, Rapid Rise.

My machine has a setting for 1 hour bread. I can't tell you how many times I have made bread on short notice to bring to dinners or make a gift. Or when I am out of bread and DH needs lunch made for work. I just thro all the ingredients together in a flash, and poof, he has home made bread sandwich for lunch.

Follow the directions as the bread book tells you. Don't scoop your measuring cup into the flour...instead use a spoon and put the flour into your measuring cup. Definitely be precise on the measurements. Use a knife to level the ingredients in the measuring up. I use the individual measuring cups (1 cup down to 1/4 cup--tupperware has all the sizes) as opposed to the glass measuring cups that hold more than one cup. It is really fast and easy w/ the machine and you will love it.

Does your machine have the 1 hour bread cooking level? Best thing ever! I have only used the longer cooking maybe twice.

I agree with Dana about using the bread flour. The bread does come out niver.
I use my machine alot for making dough for french bread and pizza crust.
Mine doesn't have a cycle for one hour bread though :(
