Moms View Message Board: Cooking and Recipe Discussion: Crockpot Cooking: Crock pot recipes wanted

I got a crock pot for Christmas and am anxious to use it. This is my first one, so I could use all the help I can get. Does anyone have any recipes they would like to share?

I'll search for some recipes for you! I usually use it to make a roast or any kind of meat. It is great to throw boneless ribs in some bbq sauce and leave to cook! Or to let spaghetti sauce cook all day! Great also for roasts. Don't add any water, just toss everything in. I have a few good recipes. When I get home, I will post them!

Stew is my favorite..I brown beef and then just throw in all the other ingredients and walk away and come back at the end of the day and it's done. I must admit that I haven't gotten very creative with mine yet!

Use an Angus roast or Pork Tenderloin.

Usually, my meat is still frozen when I get the mood to eat it. So in the morning, I use my iron skillet w/ olive oil to brown/sear the outside.

Once the meat thaws a little, you cut deep cuts (well, as deep as it is thawed) all around the roast.

If you think ahead, and your roast is already thawed, you can make the deep cuts before searing.

USing fresh garlic, alot of garlic, cut the cloves into thick slithers. Place a sliter in each deep cut. In my books, the more the better. Do this entirely around the roast, even the side ends.

Finish browning and flavor w/ salt and pepper.

Put in crock. I have an "auto" setting on mine which alternates between hi and low temps.

Add water to the skillet that you browned the meat. Stir it around getting all the juices left from browning. Add some more salt to taste. Poor over roast.

Cook the rest of day until dinner time. Sometimes I add sliced onion to the pot.
